Don’t forget this Monday’s all-employee meeting, scheduled from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium (please note the location change). The meeting was originally scheduled for March 31 but has been moved up three days.

The agenda will include an update from President Robin Baker, who will provide details on the recent board meeting. For those at the university’s regional sites, the meeting will be available for viewing at stream.georgefox.edu/live/commmtg.sdp. A chat room has also been set up, and a video recording of the meeting will be available for viewing in the days following the meeting at itunesu.georgefox.edu.

This is a reminder that the Bruin Bookstore and its online store will be closed on Wednesday, March 23, to finalize its year-end inventory. So that inventory can be accurately processed, phone calls, voice mails and e-mails will not be answered. There also won’t be any money available to make change.

The bookstore will reopen on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Store hours for the remainder of spring break week will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and closed on Saturday. We appreciate your cooperation and support!

Ed Higgins (English) published a poem, “summer fields,” in the March 14 edition of the online poetry journal The Rainbow Rose, based on the island nation of Mauritius. He also had two “scifaiku” poems, “tonight’s twin moons” and “my life on Ortores,” published in the February edition of Scifaikuest.

Paul Anderson (Religious Studies) published The Riddles of the Fourth Gospel; An Introduction to John (Fortress Press), an introductory textbook, crafted for a semester course, which leads students through literary, historical and theological aspects of the Fourth Gospel’s most vexing puzzles.

Erin Macy (Undergraduate Admissions) and her husband John welcomed their first child, Sage Charlotte-Rose, on March 2. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. She was born at the couple’s Newberg home.

Has anyone seen my black/animal print zip bag? It somehow jumped out of my purse in the Stevens parking lot. How do I know? My husband actually saw it on the ground next to a green car on Friday, but he didn’t pick it up thanks to a misunderstanding of the description.

Friday, March 18, is the last day for open enrollment, including your Voluntary Life benefit if you are eligible and wish to enroll or increase coverage.

All employees who are eligible for benefits, even if you aren’t enrolled through GFU, are required to return the Open Enrollment Election form. If you no longer have your form and you wish to make no changes to your insurance plans, you may send an e-mail to lburton@georgefox.edu simply stating that you want no changes.

International Club is now looking for leaders for the 2011-2012 academic year. Serving for the International Club is a great opportunity to gain cross-cultural experience and build your leadership skills.

International Club Mission Statement

The mission of the International Club is to provide opportunity for international and American students to develop friendships and explore one another’s cultures through fun activities and field trips.  Through participation in the international club, members develop a more global worldview.

Nominations for Support Staff Member of the Year and Administrative Staff Member of the Year for 2010-11 are due in HR on Monday, March 21.

If you have any colleagues you believe are deserving of this honor (and $500 gift), you have just a few days left to submit a nomination. Just describe the person’s unique “above and beyond” contributions to George Fox, its students, and/or its employees in the past year. Indicate what was done, who was impacted, etc. In other words, what makes this person stand out?

Other questions to also consider: How has this person encouraged or helped you, other employees, or students in the past year? What is it about this person’s job performance that impresses you? How has this person demonstrated Christian commitment, loyalty to GFU, and leadership skills at the university and the broader community in the past year?
