It’s not too late to sign up for the last two Tilikum summer family retreats.
On July 8-10, Tilikum will host single moms for the Single Moms Family Camp. Jan Cammack, a single mom herself, will speak on “The Lord as Our Shepherd.” This is a special retreat designed to give single moms a chance to get together with other moms in a relaxed camp setting. Summer staff counselors will be on hand for the weekend to lead special activities for the kids. Challenge course activities will be available, and a hayride and campfire with s’mores is an evening highlight.
For fathers and daughters, a Father/Daughter Weekend is scheduled Aug. 5-7. Brad Lau, father of three daughters, will speak, and activities include a fishing derby, a challenge course (with the big zipline, little zipline and climbing wall), swimming, a waterslide, canoeing and archery.

If you know of someone whose recent contributions make him or her worthy of being named June Employee of the Month, please take a few minutes to send an e-mail to Peggy Kilburg citing the person’s contributions (past 30 days or so) and any other relevant information about the person.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, June 20. The President’s Executive Leadership Team will select the recipient, and the winner will receive a certificate and a $100 gift card at our next community meeting (date has not yet been set).
Please take a few minutes to honor a colleague with your nomination if someone comes to mind as deserving of this honor. Receiving this honor would be a nice ending to the fiscal year for a deserving person.
No Oregon taxes were withheld on our May 31 payroll on the earnings of about 80 percent of our employees. HR and IT are working with Oracle/PeopleSoft to determine the cause of this problem, but it is not yet known. We do know that Oregon provided updated tax tables to employers and vendors of payroll systems in early May, so we believe it may be related to these new tables.
HR will send an e-mail to employees once more is understood, but in the meantime employees are encouraged to check their pay statements to see if Oregon taxes were withheld. If there was no Oregon withholding, it is advisable to check your April 30 pay statement to see how much was withheld to determine how much greater your net pay is than it would be if Oregon taxes had been withheld correctly.
The current plan is to double up on Oregon withholding on the June 30 pay day for those affected. This means the amount “extra” employees received on May 31 will be offset by their pay being “short†the same amount on June 30. Bottom line: We recommend that you set aside/don’t spend any extra you received this month to ensure that your monthly income in June will be what it normally would be had this issue not arisen.
You can access your pay statement online through mygfu.georgefox.edu. Just click on Self Service, then Payroll and Compensation, then View Paycheck. This will display a list of all pay checks since October 2010, and you can click on the check date for each of the statements you wish to view and compare.

Student supervisors: Payday is Wednesday, June 15. So please submit your students’ May time sheets to HR right away — by Friday, June 3, by 3 p.m.
Please be sure the student’s name, ID number and cost center number is legible on each one. Also, don’t forget to total them, sign them and be sure the students did as well. Please do not send students to HR to sign their time sheets. We will notify them if a signature is needed.
Federal Work Study regulations require that students delivering their own time sheets must have them placed, by you, in a sealed envelope.
Thanks very much.
