Did you know that the month of November is Native American Heritage Month? Get to know fun facts through Bon Appetit’s table tents and join us today (Tuesday) for a meal inspired by this culture.

We’ll be featuring Hunters Stew, a meal inspired by the Choctaw Indian nation in the southeastern part of the U.S. This rich and flavorful stew contains buffalo, beef and assorted seasonal root vegetables simmered in a rich sauce and will be served with succotash and cornbread.

This Monday, the 180 seniors in the Liberal Arts and Critical Issues program will present their research on the Majority World and the West. We encourage you to stop by and see what the seniors have been working on this semester. This is a great opportunity for the juniors and seniors who will be in the program in spring and next fall to see what the exhibits are like before they are in the program.

This spring, two undergraduate student groups will meet to discuss current events reported in the weekly news magazine The Economist. The seven-person groups will gather on Fridays from 2:45 to 3:45 or 4 to 5 p.m. in the Coffee Cottage meeting room.

Participating students will each receive free copies of The Economist and a $100 gift certificate to buy coffee and treats. Students must be willing and able to attend at least 10 of the 13 meetings.

If you know of students who might be interested in joining a group, please tell them about this opportunity. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, Dec. 1. For more information, contact Mark David Hall at mhall@georgefox.edu.

Also, the campus packing party is this Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. in EHS. We have the items for 1,000 shoeboxes and just need people to come help pack! Children are welcome. There will be Christmas music, hot drinks and dessert (all free). Come help impact the lives of 1,000 children around the world!

Tickets are going fast for the upcoming Christmas concert! You are invited to join fellow George Fox employees (halftime and over) and their families for an afternoon of Christmas festivities. The celebration is set for Sunday, Dec. 11.

The details …

• Festive desserts, apple cider and hot chocolate will be served beginning at 1:30 p.m. outside Bauman Auditorium.
• The Christmas concert “Tidings of Comfort & Joy” begins at 2:30 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium. Employees are entitled to up to four complimentary tickets for Sunday’s matinee performance and a single ticket for any of the other performances.

Concert tickets are now available at the first-floor Box Office in Stevens Center. (If you find you will not be able to attend the concert, please return your tickets). Tickets will be available through Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 3:30 p.m.

Please note that tickets are on sale for the general public and the concert will sell out, so don’t wait too long to get your tickets. Box Office hours are 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Lip Sync 2011 is coming to Bauman Auditorium this Monday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

This event is free, so invite all of your friends! There will be opportunities to win some great prizes.

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Nov. 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Appointments currently scheduled on these days will be rescheduled accordingly.

Custom university cards are available this year, which you can view at this link. The cards will be printed on special iridescent paper and will cost between 75 to 96 cents each, depending on the total number ordered university-wide. A permanent marker, such as a fine-tip Sharpie, works best when writing on this paper.

If you would like to order cards, please list the quantity desired and budget number on this form by Tuesday, Nov. 22.

A Christmas Carol

About the Play
This new adaptation brings Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story to life with an approach appealing to child-like imaginations. Ebenezer Scrooge must be forced outside his own world to see the truth of Christmases past, present and future.

Running 60 minutes without an intermission, VRT’s second full production, A Christmas Carol, is a fast-paced, colorful production that will keep the whole family entertained!

Dates – Extended Run!
The show runs one week only: Tuesday – Sunday, Nov. 15-19 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 19-20 at 2 p.m. Performances of A Christmas Carol will take place in The Central Stage at the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St.

Tickets
All tickets are for general seating and will be sold at the door, beginning 30 minutes before each show. Tickets are $10 general admission. The Thursday performance is “pay what you will.” Cash, check and cards accepted. A $1 processing fee will be added to card transactions. Seating is limited and advance reservations are recommended. Parking
The parking lot at the Chehalem Cultural Center is under construction and will be closed during the performances. Alternate parking areas are Sheridan Street (in front of the CCC and east), the library parking lot and adjacent public parking lot, and the Kelly Group lot (215 N Blaine St.).
