All are welcome to join us for the Liberal Arts and Critical Issues lecture tonight (Monday), when Samuel Bentson, laboratory manager with Aprovecho Research Center, speaks from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 105. The presentation ties into our the theme “State of the World.”
Bentson will present “Cookstoves as an Appropriate Technology,” in which he will introduce the concept of technology appropriately made for specific cultural and environmental contexts. He’ll then show the process of designing such technology-appropriate stoves.

The Academic Resource Center is hosting a workshop, “Steps to Writing a Successful Research Paper,” on both Tuesday, Oct. 15, and Friday, Oct. 18. Gary Tandy, professor of English, and Jane Scott, public services librarian, will lead the sessions.

Come to the Cap and Gown Room between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to enjoy spaghetti, a fresh vegetable medley, Caesar salad, garlic toast, ice cream, cookies and refreshments. We will have a nice assortment of sauces to choose from, including house-made Bolognaise, marinara, Alfredo and white clam sauce. The cost is $10 per person.
