His message is titled, “Walking on Water.” You are welcome to come, listen, ask questions and be encouraged.

James Project, our campus community service outreach ministry, will be partnering with Love INC this Saturday, Feb. 15, to serve some our neighbors in Newberg. We need willing volunteers to join in and help with yard work and some inside cleaning and organizing at the homes we will be connecting with.

Love INC (In the Name of Christ) is an awesome local organization that recruits willing volunteers to meet the needs of those in our community.

We’ll be meeting in the Outreach Ministries office at 8:30 a.m. and will serve from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Plan to attend meetings about the Performance Review Process today (Thursday) and/or tomorrow (Friday).

In Newberg, we’ll meet from 11 a.m. to noon today in Hoover 105. All staff and administrators on the Newberg campus should plan to attend this meeting if at all possible.

In Portland, we’ll meet from 4 to 5 p.m. this afternoon in Room 155 (please note change in location). All staff and administrators at the Portland Center should plan to attend if at all possible.

All supervisors should plan to attend training this afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in VAC 117 OR from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning (Friday), also in VAC 117.

There will be a webinar of each session for those who are unable to be there, but you are strongly encouraged to attend in person.

What is your story? The Prodigal Daughter group will meet tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. and continue to meet weekly in Winters Apartment 201-4. The group consists of daughters gathering to learn how we can impact the community through spiritual formations of our hearts. Pray and see if God is calling you NOT to join.

We will all walk through the book Undaunted by Christine Caine. Christine offers life-transforming insights about not only how to overcome the trials, wrong turns, and often painful circumstances we all experience, but also how to grow from those experiences and be equipped and empowered to help others.

The Latino Heritage Club is putting on a Slam Poetry Night tonight (Thursday) at 9 p.m. in Hoover 105.

Don’t forget to register for the Faith and Culture Writers Conference taking place on the Newberg campus Friday and Saturday, March 7-8. A number of well-known writers will be on campus, including Sarah Bessey, Tony Kriz, Sarah Thebarge and Deidra Riggs, among others.

The current adult registration price of $75 per person is good through this Friday, Feb. 14. After that, the price increases to $85 (Feb. 15 through March 6) and $95 (March 7-8). The works of Beethoven will be performed on the George Fox stage when Bösendorfer Educational Artist Kenn Willson presents his “Encounters with Beethoven” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in Bauman Auditorium.

Employees and students are entitled to one complimentary ticket each. They can be picked up in the Box Office located in the Pennington House. Additional tickets may be purchased on this page.

Willson will perform German Dance #1, Sonata Op. 31 #3, Sonata Op. 27 #2 (“Moonlight”) and Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee (Tune: Ode to Joy). He has traveled to Vienna, Austria, and to the Piano Academy in Recanati, Italy, to perform. He is also known throughout the region for his “Encounters with Beethoven” performances. In 2005, Willson was named a Bösendorfer Educational Artist by the Viennese Piano Manufacturing Company.

The Bösendorfer Concert Series, sponsored by the music department, has brought in world-renowned classical pianists since its inception in 2007. Past performers have included Baruch Meir, Gianluca Luisi of Italy and Valentina Lisitsa of Ukraine.

All four baseball games this weekend will be played at Concordia in Portland. Saturday’s two games were originally scheduled for Morse Field in Newberg but have been moved to Concordia’s artificial turf field due to wet conditions at Morse. George Fox will be providing stats for the Friday and Sunday games, though Friday is a neutral-site game and Sunday is an away game.

Sunday’s women’s tennis match is a neutral-site contest with George Fox acting as the host team.

Tuesday’s basketball games were rescheduled from Feb. 8 due to snow. Special promotions around the games will include National Girls and Women in Sports Day; “Pink Zone” for breast cancer awareness and research; recognition of senior women student-athletes, trainers, dancers and cheerleaders; and honoring of the 2012-13 Northwest Conference women’s championship teams in golf and track and field.

An informational meeting on studying abroad is set for tonight (Thursday) from 6 to 7 p.m. in EHS 125.

Thank you to everyone who order a Valentine’s candy package from us last week. Due to the snow last Thursday and Friday, we had to cut our selling short.

If you missed out on your chance to buy a candy package, we have good news! We will be accepting orders for packages in the Bruin Den until Friday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. We will also be in the Den on Thursday, Feb. 13, between noon and 1 p.m., so feel free to stop by if you don’t want to pre-order through email. Like before, supplies are limited so order as soon as you can!

To reiterate, the packages contain a variety of sweets, including chocolates, lollipops and gummy hearts. These Valentine packages will only cost you $1.50. Valentine’s Day is only a couples days away. Don’t be caught off guard!

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, spiritual life wants to create an upbeat, street-like setting as people enter into evening chapel, between 7:20 and 7:30 p.m.

That’s where you come in. If you dance (break dance, hip-hop dance, etc.), we want you to join in a dance circle/dance-off. We will have speakers available if you have specific music you want to dance to. You are also welcome to find someone you know who can beatbox.

The university community is invited to come hear Dr. Michael Tso, director of training at His Mansion Ministries in New Hampshire, on Monday, Feb. 17.

Dr. Tso will present twice on campus. His first presentation, entitled “Hope for the Hopeless: Does Psychology, Science and/or Faith Provide Substantive Hope for Hurting People?,” is scheduled from 11:40 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cap and Gown Room B & C.

His second talk is titled “Wounded People with Wounded Healers: How to Journey with Strugglers (Addiction/Trauma/Mental Health) Faithfully and Honestly?” and will be presented from 3:40 to 5 p.m. in Hoover 103.

Students interested in internships with His Mansion Ministries are encouraged to attend one or both sessions to learn more about an eight-week summer internship or a semester internship. Dr. Tso is also well-connected with a number of other potential medical, mental health and ministry setting internships around the U.S. that students may find interesting.

His Mansion Ministries is a faith-based residential recovery community serving adults ages 18-35 struggling with substance abuse, sexual addictions, eating disorders and mental health issues.
