Please join us in celebrating Dianna McIntyre and her faithful and dedicated years of service to our community on Monday, April 21, in the Stevens Center (Duke) Atrium from 1 to 3 p.m.

Throughout her career, Dianna has brought to her work professionalism, joyfulness and a love for Christ and people. Her interactions with our faculty, staff and students are always marked by thoroughness, balanced with sensitivity and warmth. She has a gift for engaging students and helping them to grow and develop in the gifts and abilities God has given them.

Dianna has served as the adviser for the International Student Club and has also mentored a number of our student leaders, modeling a life of living for Christ and doing one’s best. Hugs, laughs and prayer are all common experiences for students meeting with Dianna, allowing students to leave her office with a genuine sense of being affirmed and truly known.

Please join us in wishing Dianna well as she retires from the university!

Summer Serve students will be in Romania and Moldova from mid-May to early June, partnering with Word Made Flesh (WMF) to build relationships with youth in WMF’s community centers. You can support the team by donating activity and craft supplies that we can bring along with us!

Please look over the list of needed supplies, and drop off your donation at the SpIL House by Friday, May 2.

Monday, April 14, is the date! Start digging around in your closets during spring break for that Hawaiian shirt or sundress because we are going away to the Hawaiian islands for an hour and having a luau!

Team Kamosa from the Entrepreneurship 300 class will be selling $2 chicken tamales during lunch on Friday, April 4, in the Bruin Den. The will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Bruin Den and Villa Café will be closing at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 21, for spring break. Bruin Bites will be closed on Friday, March 21.

All three locations will be closed the week of spring break and resume normal hours of operation on Monday, March 31. Have a wonderful spring break!

Dinner on Friday, March 21, will be served from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The last board meal before spring break is breakfast on Saturday, March 22, from 8:30 to 9 a.m.

Hours of operation will resume on Sunday, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. Have a great spring break!

Mail Services will have a table in the Bruin Den from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day on April 1, 2 and 3. This is your chance to verify where you want your summer mail to be delivered.

You have three options:

• Keep your mailbox open all summer
• Close the mailbox (you will have the same mailbox in the fall), and your mail will be forwarded to you during the summer.
• Any combination of the above (mailbox can be open part of the summer and we can forward mail the rest of the time)

Remember, the week after spring break be sure to stop and see us in the Bruin Den.

Join us for chapel today (Wednesday) in Bauman Auditorium! In the morning chapel (10:40 a.m.) Robin Baker, university president, will speak. In the evening (7:30 p.m.) Dan Kimball, author and pastor, will be our speaker.

The university’s French and cinema programs have joined forces to present the third Fox French Film Festival on concurrent Fridays, April 4 and April 11.

Opening the festival will be Astérix and Obélix Meet Cleopatra, a big-budget box-office comedy about the French comic book heroes created in the 1960s. Their adventures have sold 280 million copies to date in Europe. It shows at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 4, in Hoover 105.

Also that night in the same location, Séraphine will be featured at 9 p.m. This extraordinary French-Belgian biographical film tells the dramatic story of French paintress Séraphine de Senlis, a middle-aged housekeeper in the early 1900s. Untaught and following what she regards as religious inspiration, she finds great appreciation in the beauty found in nature.

Filmgoers will also have the chance to indulge in crêpes and other French fare during the intermission between the shows. There is no admission charge and are open to all.

Two different films, Les Choristes (The Chorus) and Des Dieux et des Hommes (Of God and Men), will be shown on April 11. Details to follow.

The International Club is hosting a Chinese Lab this Thursday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. in Lemmons 5! This time we will be teaching you basic Chinese dialogues that you can use in campus.

This is a reminder that tickets for the Oregon Symphony’s Friday, April 4, concert on the George Fox campus are available beginning at 9 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the Box Office in the Pennington House.

George Fox employees (halftime and over) may pick up their tickets – limit two per employee – on a first-come, first-served basis. Phone reservations (503-554-3844) will not be taken except for employees at the Portland and Salem centers.

The concert is free to George Fox employees – a gift from George Fox board member Ken Austin, who cofounded A-dec with his late wife Joan. The university has been provided with a limited number of tickets for its employees. These tickets are separate from those to be issued by the Newberg Area Chamber of Commerce to the general public.

On Monday, March 31, beginning at 9 a.m., any remaining tickets (again, a limit of two per person) will be available – also on a first-come, first-served basis – to those who sign up on a waiting list. If you find you will not be able to attend the concert, please return your tickets for another employee to use.

Be sure to support our theatre students by attending the spring comic murder-mystery, The Game’s Afoot. Shows are scheduled in Wood-Mar Auditorium April 3-5 and April 10-13. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the Sunday, April 13, performance, scheduled as a 2 p.m. matinee.

Students are welcome to attend either Thursday production for free. Employees are entitled to one complimentary ticket, available for pick-up at the Box Office in the Pennington House. Additional tickets may be purchased at theatre.georgefox.edu.

The play has some fun with the legendary character Sherlock Holmes. It tells the story of Broadway star William Gillette, who plays the leading role in the smash hit Sherlock Holmes. Gillette invites his fellow cast members to his home to celebrate the holidays. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in Gillette’s isolated Connecticut castle quickly turn dangerous. Luckily, Gillette has played Sherlock Holmes on the stage and knows exactly what to do to nab the killer before the next victim appears.

Marketing communications is collecting orders for name tags. For those who have regular face-to-face contact with the public and need to order a name tag, you may submit your request at this link.

Be sure to provide the name of the person for whom the name tag is needed; title or department; and the budget to be charged.
