Free business seminar on emotional intelligence set for April 25

April 13th, 2014

How is emotional intelligence (EI) related to specific behaviors we associate with leadership effectiveness?

This is among the questions that will be addressed at the College of Business’ Spring Speaker Series Event, “Lead Well, Emotional Intelligence and Effective Leadership,” featuring Jared Roth, EdD. The presentation is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, April 25, at the Portland Center. The presentation is free, and complimentary coffee and tea will be provided.

Roth will discuss how emotional intelligence impacts leadership and how several EI behaviors accelerate leadership. Attendees will discover how to assess one’s own EI profile, and we’ll examine current research using brain imaging and discover the relationship of the brain and effective leadership. Roth will share the intriguing results of his research across the United States.

Roth is a business builder, trainer and leader. He draws from 25 years of entrepreneurial, management, consulting, pastoral and academic work, to accelerate the starting, reorganizing and growth of organizations. He’s started businesses, directed the effective starts of several hundred churches in the United States, and trained leaders from 34 counties on five continents.

As a corporate executive, he led a national reorganization of an entity with branches in all 50 states and served as the COO for an organization operating in 130 countries. He holds a doctorate in organization change from Pepperdine University and degrees in business management, leadership and divinity.

Exciting update on last fall’s ‘Be the Match’ campaign

April 13th, 2014

To those who participated in the “Be the Match” campaign on campus last September, thank you! We have an exciting update to report: In the six months since, four of the 250 people who participated are potential matches for cancer patients!

What does this mean? Four patients have been given hope because of the potential donations that could come from our George Fox community. The drive was one of the largest of its kind on a college campus in Oregon, and the fact we have seen so many preliminary matches from our pool is amazing.

Again, thank you for doing your part to help save lives!

Sarah King,
“Be the Match” organizer
