Deadline for Title IX and sexual harassment training is today

The deadline for Title IX and sexual harassment training is today (Thursday, Oct. 30).

If you would like to review the details about each of these trainings, please check your email in-box for a message from Peggy Kilburg dated Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 2:52 p.m. entitled “Important Training for George Fox Employees.” Or you can simply begin the training.

To take the George Fox sexual harassment online training, you will need to refer to an email you received yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 29, entitled “Training Alert from George Fox University.” It has the credentials (user name, company ID and password) and link you will need to access the training.

Alumna from Afghanistan shares this Monday night

The campus community is invited to the next installment of the “Islam and the West” Liberal Arts and Critical Issues series this Monday, Nov. 3, in Hoover 105. The session runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and features alumna Suhila Haidary, who will speak on the topic “Trapped in the Crossfire: Women and Children Under the Taliban.”

Haidary was a child of 6 when the Taliban took over Afghanistan. She will share on the experience of women and children during and after Taliban rule, highlighting the artificial divisions and injustices created by radical Islamist rule. The same session is presented from 5 to 6 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.

Our chapter promotes and brings together a multidisciplinary group of women focused on leveraging technology to promote stronger schools, human services and businesses through the values of community, inclusivity, visibility and impact. Are you willing to facilitate a small group during our meeting? We are looking for K-12 and higher ed educators, and tech-focused business women. We will be asking you to share a bit about your work, and then share how technology is influencing changes within your work, home and personal life.

The conference is from 8 to 11:30 a.m., with breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. for early risers. Our keynote speaker is Deb Mumm-Hill, director of the university’s IDEA Center. Chinese language and culture instruction offered for employees
