Students for Life are hosting a movie night

What does it mean to be pro-life through difficult situations? Come explore tough questions with us at the showing of the film Rape and Other Exceptions. We will talk about how we can better respond to our friends in difficult circumstances.

This movie night will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 8:30 p.m. in Hoover 102. Chapel credit is available. It is also our last Students For Life meeting of the semester. See you there!

Engineering’s Stillinger speaks on ocean wave energy systems Thursday

The College of Engineering invites the university community to its final “Earth, Wind, Fire and Water” lecture event tomorrow (Thursday) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Hoover 105. The event will feature George Fox engineering professor Chad Stillinger, who will present “Ocean Wave Energy Systems.”

This is the final presentation in the five-part series, dedicated to renewable energy, sustainability, climate change and the environment.

Eugene Cho will speak at Chapel this morning

Join us in chapel today (Tuesday) at 10:50 a.m. in Bauman Auditorium to hear from guest speaker Eugene Cho! Chapel Credit is available.

Eugene Cho is the founder and lead-pastor of Quest Church, an urban multi-cultural and multi-generational church in Seattle. He is also the founder and executive director of the Q Cafe, an innovative nonprofit community cafe and music venue. He is also the founder and visionary of One Day’s Wages (ODW), a “grassroots movement of people, stories, and actions to alleviate extreme global poverty.”

Cultural Celebration Week Menus

Please join us for dinner this week as we once again help celebrate Cultural Celebration Week by preparing dinner menus from across the globe. In addition to our normal menus, this year we will also be featuring dishes from China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Kenya, Rwanda, India, Ecuador, Australia and Canada. The cash price for dinner in Klages Dining Hall is $9.35 for all guests, visitors and non-meal plan students.

Drawing for VIP movie passes at BlueZone Store

The BlueZone Store is hosting a drawing this week for free VIP passes to a preview screening of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. The screening will be at the Lloyd Cinema on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. Each VIP pass will allow two people into the screening. Art Show this Wednesday, Nov. 13

This Wednesday, Nov. 13, during Cultural Celebration Week, there will be an art show display in the Stevens Center. I am looking for art that talks about your culture, who you are an where you came from. It can be graphics or studio works.

The pieces should be gallery ready (ready to be hung if it is a wall piece). I would like your name, the title, and a sentence or two about why the piece shows your culture. Drop your art work by today (Monday) to the SPIL house.

Make plans to attend this year’s Christmas Concert

President Robin Baker and his wife Ruth invite employees to join the university community at this year’s Christmas concert in Bauman Auditorium on Sunday, Dec. 7.

Our time together will start at 1:30 p.m., when we will serve festive desserts, apple cider and hot chocolate in the EHS Atrium. The concert follows at 2:30 p.m., featuring the university’s Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale, Chamber Choir and Festival Orchestra. The theme of this year’s concert is “Angels We Have Heard.”

Concert tickets are now available for pick-up in the music department in the Ross Center. You may also arrange to get tickets by emailing Debbie Hawblitzel (dhawblit@georgefox.edu) or calling her at 503-554-2620. Employees (half time and above) are entitled to up to four complimentary tickets for Sunday’s matinee performance or a single ticket for any of the other performances (at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5-6).

Tickets are not transferable and need to be returned if they will not be used. Tickets must be picked up by Friday, Nov. 14. A limited number of tickets are available.

Music department hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
