On Thursday, Feb. 26, our 25Live system will be upgraded to Version 24. This upgrade will greatly increase the speed of entering requests and doing searches. The other thing you will notice is a completely new layout in the Event Wizard. Watch for reminders about the upgrade, which will include when the system will not be available in the early-morning hours of Feb. 26.
Training sessions will be provided for those users new to 25Live and separate sessions for those who just want to explore what’s new. We encourage anyone who uses 25Live on a regular basis to come to one of these sessions. Not only will we show you what’s new, but we’ll provide tips and tricks to using 25Live.
Sessions will be held on Feb. 26 and 27. There will be training on the Newberg campus in our labs. Portland users are welcome to attend a Newberg session or attend a webinar from the comfort of your own office on Friday, Feb. 27.

Don’t forget to join us for the university’s fifth annual Dalton Lecture tonight (Thursday) as Dr. William Phillips, a 1997 Nobel Prize winner in physics, presents at 7:30 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium. The free presentation is entitled “Ordinary Faith, Ordinary Science,” in which he will speak on the common ground shared between faith and science. A George Fox student research poster session and dessert reception will follow Phillips’ lecture.
Among the questions Phillips will address are queries that can be particularly troublesome for a Christian: “Why is there suffering if God is good?†“What about all the terrible things done in the name of religion?†and “What about all the good people who are on a different path of faith than Christianity?â€
Phillips will also speak this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on the topic “Time, Einstein and the Coolest Stuff in the Universe” in Wood-Mar Auditorium (please note location update from Wednesday’s announcement).

Longing for a low-key, low-pressure night full of literary laughs? Then sigh no more: “Bad Poetry Night†is coming on Friday, Feb. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Lemmons 8.
“Bad poetry†doesn’t just mean your middle school love poems (though it certainly could include them). It could be a dramatic reading of a song, a Facebook post, or a series of tweets. It could be a truly awful poem you stumbled across on the Internet. It could be spoken word (or something akin to it). Or it could simply be a “bad†reading of a poem traditionally thought to be “good.â€
The sign-up sheet will be posted in the Minthorne mail room. The deadline to sign up is this Friday, Feb. 13. The event is being sponsored by the George Fox chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor Society.
