Join us for chapel with guest speaker Allison Vesterfelt today (Tuesday) at 10:50 a.m. in Bauman Auditorium. She will also be sharing at Shalom tonight at 9 p.m. in the Cap and Gown Room. Chapel credit is available for both events.

Vesterfelt is the cofounder of Prodigal Magazine and author of Packing Light, a book about learning to live with less, in which she writes about her journey to becoming a full-time author, the challenges of uncovering and maintaining a vocation she loves, and how she discovered her own unique voice through the art of writing.

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Ash Wednesday services will be held in the afternoon (1-1:30 p.m.) and at 7 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium, with Campus Pastor Jamie Noling-Auth leading the evening service.

Bonjour! The French department is hosting a movie night in the Minthorn basement this Tuesday Feb. 17t at 6 p.m. We will be watching Le Fils de l’épicier- The Grocer’s Son.

The university community is invited to the semester’s second guest lecture about the historic Saint John’s Bible. This Wednesday, Feb. 18, George Fox’s Howard Macy and Mark Terry will present “Light from the Hebrew Scriptures” from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Hoover 105.

In addition, this Friday, Feb. 20, Paul Anderson will continue his “Turning of the Page” series regarding the Bible from 4 to 4:30 p.m. in the MLRC.

The Saint John’s Bible is the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible to have been commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey (Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.) since the invention of the printing press. The Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible is the full-size fine art reproduction of the original.

Join us tonight (Monday) for a Liberal Arts and Critical Issues presentation, “Confessions of a Public School Teacher (Who Sends his Child to Private Christian School,” in Hoover 105. The session runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and features Andrew Milton, a public school teacher in DuPont, Wash., and author of The Normal Accident Theory of Education.

Milton will consider the logical and philosophical implications of educational choices that have spiritual implications. He finds that modern education won’t serve the needs of postmodern learners – but not for the reasons that you might think.
