We are at once happy and sad to announce the retirement of our human resources director, Peggy Kilburg. She has been an integral part of our George Fox family for more than 20 years and a true inspiration for all of us. Peggy’s contributions were integral to our success and continuity.

Fox Friendship Families commit to inviting two students to their home at least once per semester. A group of students are working on a short film called Passed By for our Directing and Producing class. Passed By is a short film about a simple college guy caught in a rut of inaction.
We need a couple of actors and actresses to fill these roles:
- Miles, 19-26 – A dreamer who has been puttering through life
- Carrie, 19-26 – An intelligent and well read college student
Filming will be in Newberg for two weekends. There will be open auditions held at the Media Communication Center tonight (Tuesday) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

In celebration of Constitution Day, George Fox will host Jane Calvert, associate professor of history at the University of Kentucky, for a presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in Hoover 105. The event is free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Calvert will present “William Penn and the Origins of the United States Constitution.” Calvert is the author of the book Quaker Constitutionalism and the Political Thought of John Dickinson. Her visit is being cosponsored by the Department of History, Politics and International Studies, and the William Penn Honors Program.

Save the date! Matthew J. Milliner, an assistant professor of art history at Wheaton College and a member of the Curatorial Advisory Board of the United States Senate, will present a free lecture on the Newberg campus titled “Toward 2017: Visualizing Christian Unity” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in Hoover 105.
Milliner teaches across the range of art history, and his scholarly specialization is Byzantine and medieval art, with a focus on how such images inform contemporary visual culture. He has a PhD in art history from Princeton University and an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary.

The university community is invited to a free concert featuring three experienced musicians showcasing their talents on the organ, piano and percussion on Sunday, Sept. 20, in Bauman Auditorium.
Musicians Kenn Willson (piano), Martin Ellis (organ) and Ruth Ginelle Heald (percussion) will perform a wide variety of pieces beginning at 2:30 p.m. The concert is the first of two at the university celebrating “Keyboard Celebration Week.†The second is set for Thursday, Sept. 24, when Willson performs his “Encounters with Beethoven†concert at 7:30 p.m. at the same venue. Admission to that event is free as well.
On Sept. 20, the organ, piano and percussion concert will feature pieces ranging from Fanfare (Percy Whitlock), Concerto in A Minor (Bach) and Three Chorale Preludes (R. Gary Deavel) to Toccata in G Major (Theodore Dubois), On a Spring Note (Sidney Torch) and Toccata-Finale from Symphonie Romantique (Denis Bedard).
On Sept. 24, Willson’s “Encounters with Beethoven†concert will feature the Moonlight Sonata, along with a multi-media piano recital presentation.
