George Fox will welcome visitors from Indonesia on Thursday, Sept. 24, through the International Visitor Leadership Program, a U.S. Department of State-sponsored professional development program that works to create mutual understanding between citizens of the U.S. and other nations. Faculty and students are invited to meet our visitors from 3 to 4 p.m. in Roberts 117.
The IVLP program is focused on tolerance and diversity in education, and the project is designed to further the U.S. foreign policy goal in education cooperation. The visiting group includes Indonesian educators, administrators and policymakers involved in Indonesia’s Islamic education system.
Participants will examine how religious education institutions are mainstreamed in the United States and explore how religious and secular schools, along with faith-based and other civil society organizations, work together as a force for social harmony.

The campus community is invited to a Liberal Arts and Critical Issues presentation tonight (Monday) in Hoover 105. Many times, there is a tendency to address the issues of poverty and inequality around the world with a one-directional service delivery ministry. Shupe Winterberg will discuss the question, “How can we shift our focus to a more mutual relationship while also creating a holistic approach to development that addresses the spiritual needs of children and families?” Her presentation is the third in the “Majority World and the West” series.

We have the opportunity to add a fireplace to the new dining hall that is currently under construction (which will be completed by next summer).
The fireplace would provide a communal space for students to have all-hours access and would be located in the Espresso Café area of the building (similar to the Bruin Den). It would include bench seating and would create an overall focal point in the dining hall. The fireplace would be able to be seen throughout the whole facility.
ASC wants to get your input! Would you like to have a fireplace in a space that is open for everyone to enjoy in the new dining hall? Let us know by e-mailing ascpresident@georgefox.edu or commenting on the ASC’s Facebook page!
Photos and rendering are available for viewing on ASC’s Facebook page.
For more information, we encourage you to attend our town hall meeting today (Thursday)Â at 7 p.m. in the Cap and Gown Room.
Contact ascpresident@georgefox.edu with any questions or concerns!
