If you haven’t previously registered a car but brought one back after break, it needs to be registered! Please bring your DMV registration paper to the security office and we will register your car in the office. You will need to do this in order to get the special $20 post-break price.

The late Alan Rickman (known well for his role as Professor Snape) has said, “It’s a human need to be told stories.” Stories are a powerful tool that excite our imagination, shape our identities, and bring us hope.

Whether told through the mediums of book or film, stories deeply impact us. With the release of Son of God (2014), Noah (2014), Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014) and the most recent Risen (2016) and The Young Messiah (2016), the biblical story continues to powerfully shape society, the church and the film industry.

A May Term course, “The Bible and Cinema,” will involve discussion of movies and dialogue about some intriguing theological topics such as the afterlife (heaven, hell, angels and demons), community, redemption, violence and forgiveness. We are looking forward to seeing you at the movies!

All are welcome to the final Liberal Arts and Critical Issues lecture this Monday, March 28, when Rev. Peter Eberle, a Benedictine monk at Mount Angel Abbey and Seminary, speaks on the topic “Is the Benedictine Option Benedictine?” in Hoover 105. The same presentation will be made from 5 to 6 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Rod Dreher, an American conservative Christian, has proposed the “Benedict Option” as a response to our contemporary secular culture. Rev. Eberle will explore the proposed option and, describing and drawing from his own experience as a Benedictine monk, will consider whether the option is “Benedictine.” What are the similarities? What are the differences?

Have you been experiencing back pain or want to know what exercises or stretches evidence shows to decrease symptoms of back pain? “We’ve Got Your Back” is a free five-part class on the prevention and management of back pain.

Li-Zandre van Eeden, PT, DPT, and the university’s School of Physical Therapy will sponsor the class, which will meet on five Thursdays between March 24 and April 21. Sessions are scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. in Room 202 in the Roberts Center (501 N. Villa Road). Attending all five sessions is encouraged but not required.

There will be a lab component, so please dress comfortably. For more information or to sign up, please call 503-554-2479.
