We are honored to welcome Father Ivan Petrine to celebrate Mass for the George Fox Catholic community today (Thursday) at 11:30 a.m. in Canyon Commons 101.
Father Ivan is a native of Argentina and director of the St. John Society, a congregation of priests and laity committed to evangelizing high school and college students. He also serves as the director of the Newman Centers (Catholic Campus Ministries) at both Oregon State and Portland State universities.
Lunch will be served following Mass, with an opportunity to learn more about Father Ivan’s ministry. All are welcome to attend. Please R.S.V.P. to Rob Bohall at rbohall@georgefox.edu (we will need a head count for lunch). This is a chapel elective for students.

This unique student leadership opportunity is open only for six to 10 students who are seeking to be culturally engaged and who have a desire to see change take place on their own campus.
The skills acquired through this intensive training are recognized as being indispensable in the workplace (of all fields). In addition to training with your peers on a weekly basis, students involved in the program will be attending the SCORR (Student Congress of Racial Reconciliation Conference) in February at Biola University.

The George Fox University School of Nursing is sending a group of students to Kenya! Come eat some authentic Kenyan food (catered by the lovely Grace Kuto) and learn about the trip! The dinner will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at North Valley Friends Church (4020 N. College St.).
Grace is a member of Tigard Community Friends Church and the president/co-founder of the Harambee Centre in Chwele. She is a native of Kenya whose village is near the clinics where we will serve. She will share some thoughts about the status of health care in rural Kenya.
The students will also share about what they will be doing in Kenya and what they are excited for. Each student is trying to earn $3,350 to pay for transportation and medical supplies.

The university’s Individual and Family Matters Counseling Clinic is facilitating an eight-week relationship group that is open to students and community members. The group will focus on building growth-fostering relationships, improving communication, navigating conflict, accepting diversity and difference, and navigating loneliness and disconnection to build increased quality connections in life.
This group will meet on Tuesday evenings at the IFM clinic at the Portland Center’s North Building from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning on Nov. 29. The total cost is $40 for the full eight weeks ($5 per week).

There have been some questions about which employees are considered “responsible employees” or “mandatory reporters” with regard to sexual misconduct under Title IX. Please refer to the materials in the orange folder that you should have received at the beginning of the year.
In that packet is a sheet titled “Employee Responsibilities Regarding Sexual Misconduct Response.” The first paragraph notes that “All staff and faculty are required to promptly report to the Title IX Coordinator (or Deputy Coordinators) information they have about possible sexual harassment or sexual misconduct at George Fox University, including but not limited to sexual assault, domestic or dating violence, and stalking. The only exception for mandatory reporting is the Spiritual Life Office and the Health & Counseling Center.”
