Expedite Your Payment By Paying Online!

Want to expedite your payment? There are no longer any online service fees charged for bank drafts (also called e‐checks or ACH payments). You will need your bank routing information found on the bottom of your checks, then follow these steps:

Sign into your account at mygfu.georgefox.edu

Go to Student Resources and navigate to your Student Center.

Under the Finances section, find “My Account” and click below that on “Account Inquiry.”

Next under the “What I Owe” section, choose “Make a Payment”.

Then choose “Click Here to Make a Payment.”

Next click on the word “Amount” and edit amount as needed.

Now, choose “Add to Shopping Cart” and be sure to follow all the steps to “check out” properly.

Please Note: Credit card payment is also available online with a 2.75% additional fee. Cards accepted include Master Card, Discover and American Express. Unfortunately, VISA policies currently prevent us from being able to accept VISA.

Spring Tuition Bills

Students who registered after spring bills were printed and mailed in December or who are expecting an updated bill will need to access their student account charges through their student service center. Everything you need… account transactions, pending aid and payment due dates are all accessible online at mygfu.georgefox.edu.

“No Hassle Buyback” online

The online “No Hassle Buyback” has been re-activated on our website.  Simply go to www.store.georgefox.edu click on the “Textbooks” tab, then select “Sell Books”.  Enter your ISBN numbers and the system will give you a buy price for each book.  Just follow the online instructions.  When completed, the system will produce a receipt and a pre-paid label for shipping your books.  You should receive payment with 5 business days.  If you need help, please refer to the contact information at the No Hassle Buyback.

Courier service will be limited over Christmas break

During the holiday break (Dec. 20-31), there will be limited courier service to the Portland and Salem campuses.

Portland: Wednesdays only – Dec. 22 and 29

Salem: No courier service – Dec. 20-31

Normal service will return on Jan 3, 2011.

Bruin Bookstore announces holiday hours

The Bruin Bookstore will be closed Monday morning, Dec. 20, to update of the store’s computer system. The bookstore will reopen as soon as the update is complete.

The bookstore’s hours during the Christmas break will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The store will be closed both Fridays, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve days.

Midyear commencement ceremony set for Saturday

More than 200 students will receive undergraduate and graduate diplomas at the university’s midyear commencement ceremony this Saturday, Dec. 18, in the Wheeler Sports Center. Seating begins at 1 p.m., and the ceremony will start at 2 p.m.

Tickets are not required; however, seating is limited to 10 guests per graduate. At 1:45 p.m., a live broadcast of the ceremony will be available to watch at this link.

David Le Shana, president emeritus of George Fox, will deliver the commencement address. Le Shana also has served as director of public relations, college pastor, evangelist and chaplain at Taylor University.

TODAY, Dec. 13, the staff and faculty of the Portland Center will be hosting the 6th Annual Wassail Party in the main lobby on the first floor from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Stop by anytime, even a few times if you like.

Wassail is a warm spiced cider drink and we’ll have loads of treats, maybe even a few healthy ones.

There will be intermittent caroling, continuous conversation, and always some Christmas fun!

Submission deadline for William Stafford poetry contest is Dec. 8

One last reminder: The deadline for submissions to the William Stafford poetry contest is Wednesday, Dec. 8, at midnight. This is an excellent opportunity for students to become published in an upcoming anthology of poetry honoring Stafford. As well, each of the three finalists will receive $50 compensation for their work.

We have received some submissions already, however we would like to see more! Submissions should be electronically sent to william.stafford.poetry@gmail.com.

Health and Counseling offers free doses of Gardasil vaccine

The Health and Counseling Center has free doses of Gardasil vaccine for women ages 18-26. This vaccine helps prevent HPV infection and cervical cancer. It is usually $145 per dose and is a series of three shots over six months.

Interested in living or working overseas, but not sure how to do it? The Big Guide to Living and Working Overseas can help. Your Office of Career Services has a subscription to this great interactive website that allows you to access its abundant resources for free.

Visit careers.georgefox.edu and find the link under “News and Updates” to activate your free account. Once registered, you can network with others interested in living or working abroad, both inside and outside of George Fox, and can access numerous videos and text resources to help you prepare for your upcoming adventure.

Woodley family seeks assistance with move this weekend

University closed for Thanksgiving holiday Nov. 25-26

Academic Affairs has announced a new spring commencement schedule. The following schedule will be implemented next semester:

Saturday, April 30, 2011

  • 10 a.m. Graduate/SPS Commencement Ceremony
  • 11:30 a.m. Faculty Lunch honoring retirees, emeriti faculty, award recipients, etc. (Klages West)
  • 1 p.m. Department Dessert Receptions
  • 2 p.m. Graduates assemble/doors open
  • 3 p.m. Traditional Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony
