Read proposals prior to Friday’s faculty meeting

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Please read the proposals for faculty meeting that Missy Terry (Academic Affairs) sent out prior to Friday’s meeting, scheduled from 10:40 to 11:30 a.m. in Hoover 105.

In the past, paper copies of the proposals were provided at faculty meeting. Many extras were left over, so only a limited number will be provided from now on, in an effort to conserve paper.

Also, comments on proposals are probably best formulated when the faculty member has read the proposal ahead of time.

Portland Center for Counseling and Family Therapy opens

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

The Graduate Department of Counseling announces the opening of the Portland Center for Counseling and Family Therapy. This community counseling center serves as the practicum/internship clinic for students in the GDC.

The center is administrated by a GDC faculty member and staffed by a professional counselor and advanced graduate students who are supervised by faculty trained in individual, marital, and family therapy. The center is now accepting individuals, couples, and families.

Any referrals would be appreciated. If you would like a packet of information, including business cards or brochures, they can be delivered to you at the Salem, Portland, or Newberg campuses. They are to be offered to any individuals you think may be in need of mental health services, including those who suffer from anxiety, depression, grief or loss, significant stress, abuse, or other concerns.

As a community counseling center, it is important that these services be accessible to the broadest population possible. Therefore, the center offers a sliding per-session fee schedule ranging from $15 to $75.

If you would like to visit the new clinic, tours are available by appointment between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in September. Also feel free to call (ext. 6060) with any questions about services or referrals. The center will return calls on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when the clinic is open.

You may submit your request anonymously or let us know who you are. Do you have a praise report? Let us thank God with you. If you have a heart for prayer and would like to be part of the PrayerNet team, contact Sarah Marvin (Telephone Services) at smarvin@georgefox.edu.

The chapel will be open for prayer on Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There also will be a prayer request box located in the chapel.
