The new studio in Pennington House (where University Relations is located) will be open Monday, April 21, and Thursday, April 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. for employees who would like a new photo. There will not be another opportunity until the fall, so don’t miss your chance. The studio is set up upstairs at the end of the hall.

Thursday, May 8, President Robin Baker will be at the Portland Center in Room 155, 3:30 to 5 p.m. to present employee recognition awards and to give an update on the strategic planning workgroups.
All Portland Center employees are encouraged to attend. This gives employees from the Portland Center a chance to attend in lieu of the Employee recognition ceremony and reception in Newberg on May 7.

A farewell reception for Tom Johnson (Religious Studies) is scheduled from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the John and Marilyn Duke Atrium in the Stevens Center. Tom is retiring from the university after serving in various capacities at George Fox the past 11 years. He and his wife Michele are moving to Whidbey Island, Wash., in their retirement.

Engineering will host its second annual Engineering Expo on Friday, April 18, in EHS. From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Ron Gregory Atrium, engineering class project presentations will be on exhibit.
Then, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., industry-sponsored senior design presentations will be showcased in EHS 102. Featured will be a dry food products automated seasoner for PPM Technologies and a ruggedized portable thermal printer for Tripod Data Systems. Refreshments will be provided.

The HR office will closed most of this week as we begin our PeopleSoft training and implementation work. The office will be open Monday, April 14th until 3:00 p.m. It will be open only one hour each day Tues. (15th), Wed. (16th) and Thurs. (17th), between 4:00 and 5:00. We will be open as usual on Friday, April 18th. We regret the inconvenience, but appreciate your understanding and patience.
We will respond to email and voice mail as quickly as possible between training sessions.Â

The Portland Center Library is pleased to have on-location watercolors by Gary Buhler on display.
Gary Buhler is an Assistant Professor of Art at George Fox University. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Western Oregon University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
Gary’s watercolors portray Northwest scenes of rivers, riverbanks, waterfalls and surrounding landscapes painted in rich blues, greens, and golds with bright white representing the rippling and splashing water.
Come by and take a long look or slip in for a quick peek.

He has filled the roles as interim president, seminary dean, and professor of biblical theology. Tom and Michele will be moving to Whidbey Island in their retirement. Their presence among us will be greatly missed.

A Faculty Teaching Forum, “Summer Reading, Writing, and Renewal,” is set from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Executive Dining Room on the Newberg campus.
Guiding questions will be used to help in planning your summer activities. If you’re interested, read Don’t Waste Your Summer and Finally, Some Time for … in advance of the session.
