Get to know your local farmers and learn more about locally grown products at the university-sponsored Farm Meet scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Chehalem Cultural Center.
Farmers, gardeners, cooks and food enthusiasts will be on hand to offer brief talks while offering samples of their foods. In addition, clips from the movies Locavore, Fresh and Food Revolution will be shown. A $2 suggested donation will go to organizations seeking to promote local, ethical, healthy and delicious ways of eating.

What do students value and desire for their college instruction? What are students’ views of educational technology, type and amount of homework, grading, and other class-related topics? A panel of undergraduate students will share their perspectives on these questions at the final Faculty Teaching Forum of the spring semester.
Join the session “Student Voices on Teaching and Learning” from noon to 1:20 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Cap and Gown Room A. Students scheduled to participate include Heather Clifton (non-traditional first-year elementary education major), Bret Reordan (first-year chemistry major) Caroline Aust (sophomore elementary education major), Alex Gamez (junior psychology major), Vanessa Wilkins (junior cinema and media communication major) and Timothy Fouch (senior nursing major).
To reserve a lunch, e-mail Jere Witherspoon (jwithers@georgefox.edu) by 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13. Everyone is welcome to attend the session, whether bringing a lunch or reserving a lunch.

The university’s engineering department will host its annual Engineering Expo on Friday, April 23, between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the Ron Gregory Atrium in EHS.
The event will feature industry-sponsored senior design and servant engineering projects, as well as high school design projects, first robotics displays and other engineering class projects and demonstrations. Refreshments provided.

Paul Anderson (Religious Studies) will teach a six-week series (April 18 to May 26) at Reedwood Friends Church on “The Riddles of the Fourth Gospel.” The series can be taken as a one-hour May term class (BIBL 485) if desired. Marcus Borg will join Paul for a public dialogue on the “Gospels and Jesus in Bi-Optic Perspective” on May 19 and a special Saturday, May 22, session.
Sessions meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon. Reedwood Friends Church is located at 2901 S.E. Steele, in Portland. There is no charge, and the public is welcome.

Are you interested in health care or medical missions? Come hear Devin Harrison, MD, present “Medical Missions: Eye Care in Africa,” at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Hoover 105. Dr. Harrison worked in Nigeria for two years caring for some of the world’s neediest patients, performing eye surgeries and training local doctors.
For his efforts, he received the 2008 American Academy of Ophthalmology Humanitarian Award. Contact Jim Smart or Jane Sweet if you have any questions.

The theatre’s spring production of Eurydice opens this week in Wood-Mar Auditorium, with shows scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 8-10. Additional performances are scheduled April 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 18, at 2 p.m.
Written by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Megan Weaver, Eurydice is a fantastical retelling of the myth of Orpheus. University employees receive one complimentary ticket, and students will be admitted free on both Thursdays. Your complimentary ticket is only available at the Box Office in the Bruin Bookstore. Additional tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for alumni and seniors, and $6 for students and children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at theatre.georgefox.edu.

The theatre’s spring production of Eurydice opens this week in Wood-Mar Auditorium, with shows scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 8-10. Additional performances are scheduled April 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 18, at 2 p.m.
Written by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Megan Weaver, Eurydice is a fantastical retelling of the myth of Orpheus. The play follows the story of Orpheus’ lover as she falls in love, only to die on her wedding day. A visually dynamic and inventive story, Ruhl’s world features raining elevators, a room made of string, talking stones and letters sent through the earth via worms.

Come join students, faculty and guests from around the community on Friday, April 16, as we raise funds for and celebrate the beauty of Haiti at Empty Bowls: A Night for Haiti. The event is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Klages Dining Room.
For $12, you will receive a soup dinner in a hand-crafted ceramic bowl made by a student, staff member or guest artist. Please R.S.V.P. at georgefox.edu/haiti. All proceeds will go toward relief and rebuilding in Haiti.

Tilikum Center for Retreats and Outdoor Ministries will host its eight annual “Go the Distance†10K run and 5K walk/run at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, at Champoeg State Park in St. Paul. Funds raised will help under-resourced children and youth go to summer camp.
Participants raise money by securing financial sponsors who pledge a donation per kilometer the participant runs. There is also the option of a 5K walk/run for adults and younger children. The entry fee or minimum donation is $35 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

As always, your e-mail should include the person’s name, job title, a concise but specific summary of this person’s recent contributions (past 30 days or so) to the university, its students, and/or its employees (what was done, who was impacted, etc.), and any other information that you believe makes this person deserving of this award.

The President’s Executive Leadership Team will then select the recipient from the nominations submitted. The winner will be announced at the all-community meeting on Thursday, April 22, and will receive a $100 gift card to The Allison.
