You are invited to stand in support of our black students at George Fox and the black community across our nation. Concerned students and the Office of Intercultural Life are organizing a demonstration on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in light of the shooting deaths of an unarmed black teen, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Mo., and numerous other black men and boys around the country. Meet on the Centennial Tower lawn in front of the Student Union Building from 1 to 2 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are invited to wear black on Tuesday in solidarity.
Those who wish to better understand why the situation in Ferguson is so hurtful to the black community and how we can pursue racial reconciliation are encouraged to contact Donna Barber, director of intercultural life, or Rebecca Hernandez, associate vice president of intercultural engagement. There are also several student clubs and organizations that have much to offer in this important area.

If you used the FoxTALE grade book for any of your FoxTALE course sites, we recommend that you back up your 2014 Fall grade book to a spreadsheet saved outside of FoxTALE. See the instructions here for backing up grades. You will want to keep an archive of your course grades that cover the last five years.
Use your new, empty 2015 Spring sites as the sites in which you will teach. You may import content from another course site. See the instructions here for importing.
2015 Spring sites are currently hidden from student view. When you are ready, you can share the sites with your students. Here is a quick guide on how to make the courses available: FoxTALE Making Courses Visible to Students.
If your course site is set to weekly format, your course might show incorrect dates. To change the dates, go to Administration> Edit settings on the course home page. Scroll down to the Course start date, and change it to the first day of your 2015 Spring course. Scroll to the bottom of the page and “Save changes.â€
Visit the FoxTALE for Faculty website for guides and resources.

‘Tis the season to ship packages and we have some tips to help ensure that your packages arrive safely.
- Do not wrap the box in brown paper, grocery bags, wrapping paper, etc. (Too many times, the paper is ripped off in the handling and shipping process – and the address and postage are gone!)
- Just use a plain old box – a cereal box, a ShopVac box, an Office Depot box, etc.
- Put your new address label directly onto the box (or write the address on a clear side of the box). We also have shipping labels available that you can use.
- We do have a wide variety of the free Priority boxes – regular and Flat Rate.
- Another safety item: Put a copy of the address where it is going inside the box – just in case the box gets torn open.
- Use blue or black ink for the address. Do not use red ink. Red is hard to read by the U.S. Mail scanners.
- Use regular packing tape on the package. Do not use ribbon, bows, twine, etc. Also, do not use duct tape of any kind (security reasons).
- Pack fragile items with lots of padding. ALL packages are handled by machines – they can’t read “Fragile†that people write on the outside of the package.
- This year, U.S. Mail will deliver packages seven days a week during the holiday season.
- Shipping deadlines are found in the lobby area of Mail Services or on our website (click here).
If you have questions, please email Linda Sartwell at lsartwel@georgefox.edu.
