We are sharing a few resources that we hope will help you prepare your FoxTALE course sites. The guide, FoxTALE Course Life Cycle, includes video demonstrations and instructions on how to import content into your 2019 Spring course sites, make your course sites visible to students, and more.
FoxTALE was upgraded during our break. You may be interested to know that …
- Faculty and students can easily make short audio and video recordings (maximum of two minutes) in forum postings. The feature is built into the FoxTALE text editor. See a demonstration of this here.
- On the Dashboard, each course listed in the In Progress, Future, and Past tabs will display a small image. You have the option of replacing the generic image with your own. See a demonstration of this at Dashboard Course Listing Images. You can find images at UnSplash.com, which is a repository of photography under Creative Commons licensing.
You will find additional guides on this FoxTALE for Faculty page and Digital Learning page. We invite you to join us for web conferences being offered on the Faculty Development Spring Offerings Form.
We hope this information helps as you make final preparations in your courses.
– Your Digital Learning Team

Have you changed vehicles lately or gotten license plates on a new car? If you have changes in your vehicle registration since you originally registered in 2015, and you haven’t notified Campus Public Safety of the changes, please email Nadine Kincaid (nkincaid@georgefox.edu) with your current vehicle information. She can then override the system to get your registration up-to-date or check to see that what you have listed is still current.
Info needed: make, model, year, color, license plate, state and VINÂ number. Also, if you’ve moved or changed phone numbers recently, that needs to be updated as well.
If you are finding that you are switching cars frequently with your spouse, but only have the one gratis parking permit, it is easy to purchase a dedicated permit for each vehicle! Just bring $5Â cash to the Campus Public Safety office and we can easily issue a new permit to your other car.
And, just a reminder that your staff permit is for your use only, not for your student’s use who attends here! They must register for their own permit unless you drive them to and from school each and every day.
Portland employees: If you are at the Newberg campus frequently, please go ahead and register your vehicle on MyGFU so you won’t be ticketed for non-registration. Thank you!
Have a vehicle situation that is out-of-the-box? Just call 503-554-2090 or write Nadine and we will talk through the options and find the best solution.

We’d like to invite Newberg and surrounding communities to join us for a great night of basketball this Friday, Jan. 11, in Miller Gymnasium. The Bruins will host a doubleheader against conference opponent Whitworth University, with the women’s game tipping off at 6 p.m. and the men’s game at 8 p.m.
The George Fox women are ranked No. 12 in the nation and are currently tied with Whitworth atop the Northwest Conference standings. This game will go a long way toward determining the conference champion.
The men’s game will feature our 10-3 (4-0 in conference) Bruins, who are averaging 93 points per game. Whitworth’s men are ranked No. 7 nationally, and the two schools are currently tied for first in the NWC.
This is the best combined start of season for our programs since joining the NCAA. Complimentary tickets will be offered to anyone who provides proof of address in Newberg, Dundee, St. Paul and Sherwood by showing their license.
Contact Elise Trask (etrask@georgefox.edu) with any questions. See you at the games!

FoxTALE will be upgraded during the Christmas break and unavailable for an extended time from tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. to Friday, Dec. 28, at 6 a.m. We realize this is longer than usual and apologize for any inconvenience, but hope you will be enjoying the holidays.
We also want to remind you that after the upgrade you will view past course sites (prior to 2016 Fall) on the FoxTALE-Archive site. We anticipate this work will be completed by the end of this week.

There have been a few phishing attempts that have been circulating through George Fox emails. These attempts can come in various forms, and they are sent to try to gain access to either your email account or to confidential information. So that you don’t fall victim to these attempts, please review the guidelines below.
If you feel you’ve received a suspicious email, check the following:
- The sender’s address. If it is unrecognizable or something similar to, but not exactly, the sender’s normal email address, it could be an attempt. Please note that a similar email address does not mean the original email address has been compromised; this is called a spoofing account.
Examples of email addresses used in recent phishing attempts: “rbaker@my.com” and “mshelton.georgefox.edu@gmail.com.”
- Any link or odd instructions. If the email directs you to click on a link (even something familiar such as iTunes, etc.) or input sensitive information, it could be an attempt to get your password or other important information. Verify with the sender personally if you are suspicious.
If you feel that you have received some sort of phishing attempt:
- Email the Service Desk at servicedesk@georgefox.edu.
- Mark the email as “spam” in your Gmail inbox, which will then make Google aware of the issue.
- Request that anyone who has been emailed via the attempt also mark it as “spam” in their inbox.
- If you did not click on any links or reply, you do not need to do anything further.
- If you did click on a link or send a reply with sensitive information, you’ll want to change your password as soon as you can in MyGFU (this will automatically update your email password). Then go through the Settings in your Gmail account to look for anything amiss, such as an unfamiliar forwarding address or vacation-responder that you never created.
Feel free to call the Service Desk at 503-545-2569 and press “2” if you would like help walking through these steps.
