Over this summer, the university will be moving from our current ID card system, which uses a magnetic stripe, to a proximity card system that lets an individual tap the card on a reader.
We will be contacting each area that this will affect as we start to change the components of the system in those areas.
Here are the changes that you need to be aware of:
- Everyone will receive a new card.
- Your current website picture will be used on your new card; if this needs to be updated, please email photographer Chris Low at clow@georgefox.edu to arrange for a new photo to be taken.
- You will be notified and receive a new card before the change is made in your area.
- Your old card will no longer work once the new card is distributed.
If you have any questions, please contact the Service Desk at servicedesk@georgefox.edu

We are pleased to host the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities’ (CCCU) Diversity Conference on our Newberg campus Friday through Sunday, Oct. 4-6, 2019!
This is a great opportunity for us to join colleagues from across the country to worship, listen and learn together about God’s call for work in Christian higher education. More details about the conference can be found here.
Many of you have asked about attending. We would invite you to complete this online form so we know who will be attending. (Faculty, these hours can count toward faculty development required hours for next academic year.)
NOTE: For every four individuals signed up we get 50 percent off the cost, which would be $200 a person. You or your department would need to cover that cost. This includes all meals, and all plenary and workshop sessions. The deadline to sign up for the early-bird rate is June 10, 2019.
Please let Rebecca Hernandez (rhernandez@georgefox.edu) know if you have any questions or concerns.

Now that the dust has settled from the spring semester, it is a great time to update your vehicle registrations!
Please make note of this car registration information …
- If you are still using an all-white staff permit, or an orange adjunct permit, it has been void for four years.
- If you have yet to initially register your vehicle, please do so at your earliest convenience on MyGFU. Be sure to have your DMV vehicle registration slip in front of you, as the database will ask for some information that is on there.
- If you are currently registered but have a change, addition or deletion of a vehicle, please bring the DMV registration slip to the Campus Public Safety office or email Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu if you aren’t in Newberg so we can update your vehicle information.
- Tired of switching your gratis permit from car to car? It’s only $5 cash to purchase a permit for your second car! Bring your money to the CPS office and we can issue you a new permit dedicated to your second vehicle.
- Did you purchase a new car but don’t have the new plates yet? No problem! We can register it using the temporary permit on the back window, then update it later when you email your new plate numbers to Nadine.
- If you work at the Portland Center but make frequent visits to the Newberg campus, we need you to register your vehicle as well and to park in the staff lots.
- Please don’t wait until school starts to do these updates, as the line often stretches out the Campus Public Safety office door!
Questions? Have an out-of-the-box situation? Call Nadine at 503-554-2090 during office hours.
