Don’t forget tomorrow’s test-taking workshop

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014

Do tests drive you crazy? You read the book, did the assignments, studied the night before, and still didn’t do as well as you wanted on your test. What else can you do? Tomorrow (Friday), the Academic Resource Center will host a session, “How to Get A’s on All Your Tests (or at Least Become a Better Test-Taker),” from 10:40 to 11:30 a.m. in EHS 125.

The session was originally scheduled for earlier this month but had to be rescheduled because of our snow day on Feb. 7.

Rick Muthiah, associate director of learning support services, will cover several strategies for improving performance on tests.

‘Toxic chemicals in everyday life’ discussed Monday

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014

All are invited to next week’s Liberal Arts and Critical Issues lecture event on  Monday, Feb. 24, when Jen Coleman, outreach director for the Oregon Environmental Council, speaks from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 105. The presentation ties into our theme “State of the World.”

Coleman will present “Toxic Chemicals in Everyday Life,” in which she will discuss the fact that a wide range of toxic chemicals are measurable in the bodies of 97 percent of the U.S. population. Who is responsible for creating this chemical burden, and who pays the price? Coleman will discuss the current state of health science and policy initiative related to toxic chemical management.

The same session is presented from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.

Questions? Contact Paul Otto at ext. 2676 or potto@georgefox.edu.
