Summer Serve teams collecting garage sale items through Friday

Collection week has been extended through Friday, April 25, for those who have items to donate toward our Summer Serve garage sale.

If you have items you’d like to donate to a good cause, drop them off at the Spiritual Life House between 2 and 5 p.m. through Friday of this week. All donations will be sold at the Summer Serve garage sale on Saturday, April 26, and will help fund the teams going to Romania/Moldova, Kenya and Argentina.

Voters’ pamphlets for primary election available at Mail Services

The Yamhill County Voters’ Pamphlets are available in the hallway of Mail Services located in the North Street Annex. The pamphlet includes the candidates running for various offices in Yamhill County.

All university employees are invited to celebrate today (Monday) in the Stevens Center (Duke) Atrium from 3 to 5 p.m. All George Fox students (past and present) are invited to celebrate on Tuesday, April 22, in the International Center/Cultural House from 3 to 4 p.m. (sharing time will begin at 3:20 p.m.).

The final Students for Life event of the year is tonight (Monday) at 7 p.m. in Lemmons 13. Free pizza and pop will be provided! Everyone is welcome to come see what our club is all about while enjoying some yummy food.

We will be having fun games, food and fellowship as well as our elections. We need you to fill in some officer positions for next year. There are a number of positions you could run for (secretary, public relations officer, treasurer), and most are pretty low-commitment; we know what it’s like to be crazy busy.

Spiritual life hosts ‘Dream Night’ chapel on Tuesday

We are still in need of volunteers to join us as Erin Johnson’s SWRK 393 Macropractice class canvasses the Newberg and Dundee neighborhoods to hang door hangers to raise awareness for the need for a new pool facility. We’ll be out on the streets from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday).

‘Colored White Panel’ shares in Shalom tonight

Come join us in the Cap and Gown Room at 9 p.m. tonight (Thursday) for the “Colored White Panel” during Shalom.

The panel will focus on informing white students about white privilege, white guilt (how to move away from this mind-set), and white ethnic identity development. Panelists Jeannot Djanga, Carly Ewing, Hope Kenyon, Drew Miller and Jonathan Morell will share from their experience and answer your questions.

This event also counts as a chapel elective if you are still in need of credit.

Entrepreneurship team still taking tamale orders

Team Kamosa, as part of the Entrepreneurship 300 class, is selling $2 chicken tamales one more time before the year ends! This time, there will not be sales during lunch. Sales will only be through pre-orders.

Last James Project service event of the year

Calling all volunteers willing and able!

James Project is having our last service project of the semester Saturday, April 19, and we need your help!

We’ll be partnering with Love INC to do a mixture of housework and yard work for some families in our community. We will be serving from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., raking leaves, pulling weeds, vacuuming, organizing, cleaning, etc.

We’re also are in need of a Spanish-speaking volunteer! What we can do in our neighborhood makes a difference. Come join us as we serve in the name of Christ this weekend.

Community Garden work day

Join us this Saturday, April 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. for our final community garden work day. We will be doing some planting for the summer and enjoying community together! You can receive chapel elective credit for this event.

We will be discussing “Jesus in the Ground” and connections of gardening and this holy weekend of Christ’s resurrection. Hope to see you at the community garden behind Coffin.

Donations being accepted for Summer Serve’s April 26 garage sale

Spiritual life is hosting a huge garage sale on Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Edwards-Holman Science Center and the EHS parking lot. All proceeds will go toward the Kenya, Argentina and Romania/Moldova immersion and serve trips. Come support our Summer Serve teams!

If you have any items you would like to donate, we are hosting a collection week from April 14-17 after 2 p.m. at the Office of Spiritual Life (Sheridan Street House), located on the corner of Sheridan and Meridian streets.
