The university community is invited to explore portions of the St. John’s Bible at a special presentation from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the Stevens Center’s Duke Atrium. The project began in 1998 at Saint John’s Abbey and St. John’s University, which commissioned renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson to produce a hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible.
Come see a work of art that unites an ancient Benedictine tradition with the technology and vision of today, illuminating the Word of God for a new millennium. The Gospels and Acts will be on display, along with several individual art pieces from the series. In addition, Brad Neary, representative for the project, and Paul Anderson, professor of biblical studies at George Fox, will present short talks on topics related to the Bible and its artwork.
Stop by the atrium and enjoy the St. John’s Bible!
