Don’t forget to sign up for intramural kickball

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

Attention kickball hopefuls …

George Fox intramurals is going online, and we’re currently hosting kickball sign-ups. We are piloting a new software that will allow teams to join, check their schedule/standings, and keep track of statistics online. Go to an app called “Rec It” and download it for free. Instructions are listed once you arrive at this site.

Once on the site, sign up, search for our school and either create a team or accept an invite from a friend. Please communicate with your teammates so duplicate teams are not created, as we have a maximum of 16 teams. Also, every player on each team needs to have an IM league account!

Each team needs nine players and at least two girls!

If you have questions, feel free to contact JJ Lacey at jlacey13@georgefox.edu or 253-326-1712.

University Players host auditions for 2016-17 season

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

Do you have a heart for ministry? Are you interested in exploring storytelling as a form of worship?

If so, you may be interested in auditioning for the University Players, a touring theatre ensemble that travels to churches, schools, prisons and other gatherings.

Auditions will be held in the Bauman Greenroom this Friday, March 11, between 10 and 11:50 a.m., in 50-minute blocks, with each block consisting of the following:

  • A group warm-up and improv. Please come in comfortable clothing, prepared to move freely.
  • Individual-prepared monologues. Bring a two- to three-minute story of a significant event in your own life, told in the first person. This does not need to be memorized, but must be well rehearsed, and must be no longer than three minutes.
  • Individual musical offerings. Prepare a short musical moment, 10 to 30 seconds long, using any instrument you choose. A piano will be available. Even if you don’t consider yourself a “musician,” this can be a simple lyric on a penny whistle or a rhythm on a creative music-making object like a rubber band, a cardboard box, or a cookie sheet with gravel.
  • Optional: Other unique skills are also welcome! You are invited to come prepared to delight us with a handstand or juggling or … you name it. Show us something interesting.

If you have any more questions about The University Players, auditions, or the group’s scheduling requirements for next year, please email JeanneAnn Faris at jfaris15@georgefox.edu.
