Finding a church home while you are away at college is such an important source of refreshment, soul care, and a natural place to serve. The Office for Spiritual and Intercultural Life offers an online directory of local churches.
If the campus pastors can help you navigate this list, please don’t hesitate to pull us aside after chapel, swing by our office, or email us at spirituallife@georgefox.edu.

You are invited to attend and help spread the word for a six-week leadership workshop that is being hosted by athletics. You don’t have to be an athlete or coach to be part of Bruins LEAD. It is simply an opportunity to develop your leadership skills.
We will take basic leadership concepts and spend one hour diving into details of how to develop responsible and respected leaders.
Each week, you will get to hear from one of our coaches on the following topics:
- Sept. 15 – Neal Ninteman on “Exploring Leadership and How to Get and Keep Yourself Motivated”
- Sept. 22 – Marty Hunter on “Confidence and Composure”
- Sept. 29 – Maco Hamilton on “How to Conduct Yourself With Class and Servant Leadership”
- Oct. 13 – Mike Meek on “How to Inspire Your Team and How to Build Winning Team Chemistry”
- Oct. 20 – Branden Thompson on “How to Get Your Teammates Back on Track”
- Oct. 27 – Jessica Hollen on “How to Manage Team Conflict”
All sessions take place from 8:40 p.m. to 9:40 p.m. in Hoover 102.
While some of the content may be specific to athletics and teams, we feel strongly that every person will end up working in a team at some point in their lives and this information can be relevant for everyone on campus.
Today (Thursday) is our first session. We would love to see you there!
Probably most important … there will be snacks!
Questions? Please contact Kelsea Meyers at kmeyers13@georgefox.edu.

Security has received some reports of missing bikes, and upon checking the campus bike racks, we have some safety tips!
- ALWAYS lock your bike, even if you are going to be in a building for “just a minute.”
- Purchase the strongest U-lock you can afford.
- Lightweight chain or “cord” locks are easily cut by potential bike thieves.
- Lock the bike frame to the bike rack as bike tires are easily detached.
- If you are using a heavy-weight cord, wrap it as many times as possible around the bike rack and various parts of the bike frame. Make it as difficult as possible for a potential thief and they will likely move on to an easier target elsewhere.
- While it might be more economical to share a long cord with several friends and lock several bikes together, if a potential thief can easily cut the cord, it will be more attractive to a thief.
- Leave the expensive bikes at home and purchase an old beater at thrift stores like Goodwill or Restore to get around campus.
- Photograph your bike from all angles and keep the photographs, serial number, and sales receipt in a safe place for easy reference.
- Check on your bike frequently! If you aren’t using it, then consider taking it home at our fall break weekend and bringing it back after spring break when the weather will be better again for riding.
- Check the George Fox University Security Services Facebook page for some photos of various types of bike locks.

Would you like to help others learn through one-on-one tutoring? George Fox has partnered with Tutor Matching Service to provide a platform for students to sign up as a potential tutor for other George Fox students or local community members.
Tutors set their own rates and make arrangements for meeting times and locations. If you’re interested in serving as a private tutor, go to the Tutor Matching Service page and follow the instructions at the bottom of the page. The service is independent and is not supervised by George Fox University, but can be a helpful resource for our students.
Contact Rick Muthiah (rmuthiah@georgefox.edu) if you have questions.
