i3 Challenge brings students, mentors together Feb. 25

Get ready for this year’s Industry Innovation Idea (i3) Challenge! Students, start putting your teams together – six students from any major – and mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 25, for the third annual i3 Challenge. The event, sponsored by the College of  Business, will take place from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Hoover Academic Building.

Students will spend the day working alongside an industry mentor and will create an innovative idea, competing for a $500 grand prize. Registration will open soon. In the meantime, if you have questions, reach out to Laurie Koehler at lkoehler@georgefox.edu.

Sign-ups are open for Spring 2017 Life Groups! Life Groups provide an outlet for students to gather for a weekly time of discussion and prayer. Groups are coed, all male or all female, and are under the direction of a faculty, staff or post-graduate leader. Groups meet in a leader’s home or on campus.

Spring Life Groups will run from the week of Feb. 12 to the week of March 19. Students can sign up here through Feb. 10.

Internationally acclaimed pianist performs in Bauman Auditorium Feb. 16

The music of Schubert, Schumann, Beethoven and Gershwin will fill Bauman Auditorium when Soheil Nasseri, an internationally renowned pianist, performs for the university’s 11th annual Bösendorfer Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16.

All employees and students are entitled to one free ticket. Additional tickets are $12 for general admission, $8 for seniors and alumni, and $6 for students and children under 12. All tickets are reserved seating and are available at this link or at the University Box Office by calling 503-554-3844.

Nasseri has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Berlin’s Philharmonie and Konzerthaus, London’s Purcell Room at the Southbank Centre, Tokyo’s Musashino Center, Théâtre Fémina in Bordeaux, Florence’s Teatro Comunale, St. Petersburg’s Philharmonia, and Palermo, Italy’s Teatro Politeama.

He will perform four pieces: Schubert’s Sonata in A Minor, D 784, Schumann’s, Carnaval, Op. 9, Beethoven’s Sonata No. 7 in D Major, Op. 10 No. 3, and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

Preorder a rose for a friend, roomie or significant other! Roses ($1 each) will be available for pick-up the evening of Monday, Feb. 13, or in the morning on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Reserve your rose(s) for $1 each before Feb. 10 by going to Canyon Commons (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and purchasing however many you would like. That way we won’t run out before you can get yours!

They will be sold the day of as well, but if you preorder you will be sure to have yours on pick-up day!

Pam Lau speaks at Delight Women’s Bible Study tonight

The Delight Women’s Bible Study is hosting Pam Lau for a special talk on what it looks like to be “Better Together.” Join us at 8:45 p.m. tonight (Thursday) in Canyon Commons 101.

Pam will talk about the deep need women have to connect at a deeper level as she shares real-life stories and uses Scripture to support the fact that even though we’re more connected than ever before we are more lonely than ever before. Pam has recently been traveling and speaking about her book A Friend in Me: How to be a Safe Haven for Other Women. This is one of many books she has written.

Pam is impassioned to speak the word of Jesus as it continually transforms us. This is a chapel elective credit option. Ladies, join us for snacks, fellowship and incredible influence.
