Overhead work being done on campus this month

Plant Services will be trimming trees and doing other overhead work with a high lift starting today (Tuesday) and continuing through the end of the month. Please be aware as you are walking through campus so that you do not walk through these areas.

The areas will be marked, and parking areas will be cordoned off the day before work progresses in that area. For your safety and that of your vehicle, do not park or walk in areas that have been reserved.

Invite friends and family to university’s volleyball camp June 23-25

Know of any friends or family members interested in improving their volleyball skills while having some fun at the same time? Invite them to the George Fox Volleyball Camp June 23-25!

Camp is open to seventh- to 12th-graders (entering in the fall), and both overnight and commuting options are available. Camps will include an introductory beach session, leadership sessions and lots of volleyball-skill training and competition with our very own Bruin volleyball players!

Miller Gym in Wheeler remains closed this week

Crews are continuing extensive resurfacing work on the Miller Gym floor in Wheeler Sports Center this week. The gym is closed through Sunday, June 11, and will reopen on Monday, June 12. Please note: Only the gym is closed; the Fitness Center and the athletics offices will remain open as scheduled.

For safety and stewardship of our facility, please note that the use of the gym and Fitness Center in Wheeler is limited to current students, employees and university-authorized groups only.

Those using the facility will need to be prepared to show your George Fox ID or approved temporary pass to Security Services or athletic department staff. Any other use or exceptions must be approved by Event Services (for outside groups) or the athletic office (for rare individual exceptions to policy).

We are a participating provider for Regence and offer self-pay options for those not on Regence. Our pro-bono clinic is available this summer as well.

George Fox alumni, students featured at special spoken word event

In collaboration with eROI, two alumni of George Fox University, Julio Bautista and Bailie Bowey, are presenting Relevant Matter Spoken Word Night: A Night of Poetry Celebrating Diversity, Inclusion and Authentic Expression. Join us from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, at eROI in Portland.

This event will feature 15 artists, including current students and alumni of George Fox who will perform personal spoken word pieces in the hope that their stories will inspire movement toward healing and reconciliation in the city of Portland. The event is free and will have food and drink provided. eROI is located at 505 N.W. Couch St. #300, in Portland.

Alumni Art Show opens today in Minthorne Gallery

“Looking Forward, Beyond the Familiar” is the George Fox Art and Design Alumni Art Show opening today (Thursday) and running through Wednesday, July 12. An artists’ reception will be Friday, June 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Minthorne Gallery.

Please come by and see the latest work from 14 of our graduates, including paintings, ceramics, furniture, photography and graphic design. Minthorne Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Bruin Den closes June 1-5 for maintenance project

The Bruin Den will be closed Thursday, June 1, through Monday, June 5, for a maintenance project. The Bridge Café will open up temporarily on Friday, June 2, and Monday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have complimentary coffee available in the Bruin Den seating area Thursday, June 1.
