Be mindful of safety around activity center construction site

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

As the student activity center construction project continues, please respect the fence and stay out of the building and construction areas. Construction personnel only are allowed inside the fence. The safety of students, faculty, staff and guests is our highest priority.

Generally, work crews arrive around 6:30 a.m. and begin work on the site at 7 a.m. on weekdays. We apologize in advance for the noise, dust and inconvenience that accompanies projects such as this and ask for everyone’s patience as we anticipate this exciting new addition to campus!

Don’t forget to pick up your online orders at Bruin Store

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

In-store pick-ups for all Bruin Store online orders can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday through Sept. 1. All students picking up online orders during those dates will receive a 20 percent off coupon toward school supplies. The coupon is valid through Sept. 8.

Thank you for shopping at the Bruin Store!

Please walk to and from the Austin lot on Meridian Street

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

For your safety, when walking to and from the Austin lot, please walk only on Meridian Street on the west side of campus up to Crestview, as it has sidewalks. Villa Street on the east side of campus does not have sidewalks.

Thank you,
Security Services

Commuters: Lockers are available for you on campus

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

Commuters: Did you know that we provide lockers for you to store your personal belongings in between classes? The lockers are located in the FoxHole, on the lower level of Klages Center.

Contact the Student Life Office by emailing studentlife@georgefox.edu to rent a locker this year. The cost is a $10 deposit and will be returned to you once you return your key.

Claim your lost items before Sept. 1

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

Last call for the lost and found! If you lost something on campus from last April until now, and have yet to pick it up, now is the time to do so! All of the lost-and-found items not reunited with their original owners will be donated to charitable causes on Friday, Sept. 1, to make room for incoming items.

If we have emailed you about left-behind items, please come to the security office to claim your items, as space is very limited!

Please park where your parking permit allows

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

Students and employees: With the influx of new and returning students on campus, it is critical that students already on campus start parking immediately in their assigned lots. This is especially critical in the lot behind Canyon Commons, as deliveries are being hampered by illegally parked student cars blocking loading ramps.

Commuters can park in the Bauman or Le Shana lot until the completion of the 99W lot. Resident East students need to park in the red or red-striped areas (Le Shana lot) only, and Resident West students need to park in the solid blue areas only. Likewise, graduate students need to park in the green areas around the Roberts Center. The only exceptions for these next few days are the Austin (purple) and Morse (orange) lots, which are nearing completion. If you have a Morse or Austin lot permit, please begin parking in the lots as soon as they are completed.

Employees working in the Stevens Center: Please begin parking in the staff lots west of the Stevens building, as the Pennington lot and that block of Sheridan Street fronting the Pennington lot are now for residential students only.

Here is a link to the parking brochure. Questions? Contact Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.

Auditions for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ are Tuesday in Wood-Mar Auditorium

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Calling all thespians! General auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be this Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. in Wood-Mar Auditorium. We will host the first call-back the following evening, Wednesday, from 7 to 10 p.m. and a second call-back on Friday, Sept. 1, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the same location.

What to prepare
For the general audition (Tuesday), please prepare a 90-second comedic monologue from a classical play (preferably Shakespearean). Your monologue should be fully memorized and well rehearsed. Be prepared to work with the director one-on-one after you have performed your monologue.

Sign-up Sheet
In order to secure your audition slot, please sign up on the audition sign-up sheet on the theatre audition board in Lemmons Hall. Students who are not theatre majors/minors are more than welcome to audition. You will not need to prepare a 90-second monologue, but you will need to read/perform a short Shakespearean monologue for the director. Come early, grab a monologue from the audition table, and take a little time to practice before your audition time slot.

Call-backs will feature movement work and cold readings from the text. Also, if you sing or play an instrument, please come ready to share your talents with us.

Show Dates
Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28 at 7:30 p.m., as well as Oct. 29 at 2 p.m.

Rehearsals
In general, rehearsals take place between 7 and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Director Rhett Luedtke will work around your evening conflicts, but you should do what you can to limit those conflicts as much as possible.

Questions?
Please email Rhett at rluedtke@georgefox.edu.

Let’s have fun!
