Learn strategies to manage and overcome your stress and anxiety! Develop the skills to be free from unnecessary worry and fear.
A stress management class will run for three weeks, one hour per week, and is free! Classes begin Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Health and Counseling Center classroom. Subsequent classes meet on Nov. 1 and Nov. 8.
Space is limited to the first 15, so call 503-554-2340 to sign up.
Security Services will be conducting a test of the FoxAlert emergency notification system sometime next week. In order to ensure you receive this test emergency alert, please log on to MyGFU and select the “Self Service” option, then “Personal Information.” Select the “Phone” option underneath “Personal Information.” Your cell phone number should have a check by it as your preferred phone in order to receive the emergency alert.
Please do this before next week so that you will receive the text test alert.

If you are a declared social work major, who is a sophomore and planning to pursue a BSW degree, please be aware that the early BSW application deadline is Friday, Oct. 27. You will need to turn in your completed application to the social work office by this date to be considered for the early application process (the regular application deadline is Jan. 26).

This position will allow you to interact with a variety of people in our George Fox community as well as members of our surrounding community and around the world. You will have the exciting opportunity to make a difference while serving in this fun and engaging role as you provide above-and-beyond customer service to all you provide assistance to! You will be a key contributor in accomplishing the mission and vision of George Fox!

Our commuter team is putting together some cool stuff based off your feedback to the Commuter Life Needs Assessment survey we sent out! One popular response many of you mentioned was to have some sort of small-group system set in place to get in touch with reps and other commuters on a more frequent basis.
Below is a list of available times that the commuter reps will be in the FoxHole to meet with whoever is wanting to join them. This is an intentional space for the reps to get to know and connect with you, as well as space for commuters to get connected with each other on a consistent basis. Come volunteer on Saturday, Oct. 28, with Open Arms International! SpIL partners with Open Arms, which is hosting a fundraising banquet. They would love to have some volunteers from George Fox. This banquet is a recreation of the villages in Kenya and is a great opportunity to learn about one of our international parters, as well as meeting the staff who make nonprofits run.
Volunteers work in two shifts:
Carpooling options available! Open Arms is a local nonprofit that helps orphaned children in Kenya have a safe, loving home and the ability to hear about the love of Jesus. They are truly living out grace and peace.
