University closes Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving holiday

All university offices and libraries on the Newberg campus and at the Portland Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27, for the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition, the Bruin Store will be closed Thursday through Sunday.

The 24/7 space in the Murdock Library will be open during the closure.

Remote ARC appointments available during finals week

Update on ID cards and access to campus buildings

Campus facilities (excluding the Murdock Library, Canyon Commons and Roberts Center) will be locked from now until the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021.

All buildings will be card-lock access only, so please bring your ID card and office keys to campus to access your work or academic spaces. All employees and students will still have card-lock access to those buildings they currently have access to (e.g., Maker Hub, Labs, etc.) and will also have card-lock access from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to EHS/Wood-Mar, Wheeler, Hadlock, Hoover, Klages, Lemmons, Ross and the Stevens Center.

If leaving a bike on campus, store it in your dorm room or apartment

Take an advanced acting course online this spring

This spring, George Fox’s theatre department is offering an online version of its advanced acting course, THEA 300: Acting 3: Contemporary Scene Study, to anyone who has taken an Acting 1 course at any university, at any point in time.

No parking on Meridian Street for the rest of the semester

The city of Newberg will close the on-street parking along Meridian Street this week for scheduled sewer work. There will be no parking on Meridian Street from Sherman Street to North Street starting today (Monday) through the end of the fall semester.

Students may park anywhere on campus without being ticketed for the remainder of the fall semester.

The entry into the Wood-Mar parking lot will also be blocked during the project; please plan to access the Hoover and Wood-Mar parking lots from the East Sherman Street entry point.

Schedule for construction work along Meridian Street

The city is continuing its water line project and will have an impact today (Mondaythrough Wednesday, Dec. 2. Thank you for avoiding this area as the city updates its water and drain lines.

Construction schedule:

  • Starting Monday, Nov. 23
    • No street parking will be available along the east side of Meridian Street as construction crews will begin staging (laying out) pipe.
    • Street parking along the east side will continue to be closed through December, as they will be staging pipe for multiple locations in town.
  • Monday, Nov. 30
    • The Hoover parking lot entrance north of Franklin Street will be closed. This entrance will be closed until Wednesday, Dec. 2.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 1
    • Meridian Street will be closed at the North Street intersection again. Traffic will not be allowed through.

  • Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Leaving vehicle on campus? Be sure to fill out form

Care about sustainability? Attend meeting tonight

Starting in the spring semester, the Stewards of Sustainability Club will be running again! Our mission is to educate, empower, and equip students with sustainable lifestyles and practices.

This includes our personal decisions and improving our community. As a club, we want to participate in activities such as litter clean ups, watching educational movies/documentaries, improving recycling education on campus, and working in a community garden.
