Shared Praxis consists of 4 sequential semester courses (4 credits each) designed to:

1. lead students through an exploration of their personal journey and call to ministry in the context of community;

2. assist students in building a theological framework for ministry;

3.  explore and develop specific skills for ministry;

4. apply all the above in practical ministry through an internship

The Student Life Office has applications and job descriptions ready for the taking for those interested in applying to work on campus with summer residents. The job is varied in its tasks which range from administrative duties such as check in/out procedures for all students on campus as well as helping create community during the summer months. A Benefit for the Tilikum Scholarship Fund

Tilikum Center for Retreats is pleased to announce our fifth annual run and walk event to raise funds to get needy children to summer camp. The race will take place at Champoeg State Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14th and will begin at the River Side Day Use Area. Participants must raise donations per kilometer they run or walk. A minimum donation of $35 is required to enter the event. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each race. Skene Award for  Fiction and Literary Nonfiction :Contestants should submit two short pieces (under 1000 words) or one longer piece (1000 to 3000 words).  Writing will be judged on originality, quality of expression, and significance of the work’s contribution to the spirit of reconciliation.
Atkinson Award for Poetry :Contestants should submit up to three poems, none of which may exceed 36 lines. Writing will be judged solely on artistic merit.

Register now for YOUR annual First Avenue Career & Graduate School Fair.  There will be over 120 companies and organizations attending.  This is a great chance for you to meet recruiters and build your professional network of contacts.  The fair takes place on April 4th, 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.  Recruiters will interview with prospective students, at times which were scheduled during the fair, beginning at 1:30p.m. through 6:00p.m.  If you need transportation, Career Services will provide as needed.  To register, go to Career Services (Stevens 325).  Check out www.olapcfirstavenue.org for a list of attending organizations.
