‘Passport Day’ on Newberg campus Oct. 25

“Get Your Passport Day” will take place on the Newberg campus next week. The details:

Passport Day (new or renewal)
Date: Thursday, Oct 25
Location: Cap and Gown A
Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The U.S. Postal Service will be on site to take photos and help fill out paperwork. If you already have your photo, they will help with the paperwork.

You need to bring both of these items:

  • Original birth certificate (not a copy)
  • Government-issued ID (i.e. driver’s license)

Payment is by check only – no money or credit cards accepted. Two checks will be required (one to USPS and one to the State Department).

APA workshop scheduled Oct. 17

The Academic Resource Center will host an American Psychological Association workshop from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in EHS 102. The session will cover APA formatting for citations and references.  Stephanie Meagher, a master’s student in the university’s counseling program, will be the presenter.

Lutheran Volunteer Corps rep visits campus Oct. 18

Lutheran Volunteer Corps representative Kristin Nordmark will be in the Student Union Building (SUB) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, to provide information about the organization.

A community of faith, LVC is a national volunteer service organization that unites people to work for peace and justice.  For one year, volunteers live together in intentional community, practice simple and sustainable living, and work in stipended, full-time positions at social justice organizations.

Vickie Kibler visits for alcohol-awareness week event Oct. 17

Vickie Kilber, mother of Patrick Kibler, a student killed by a drunk driver in 2004, will visit campus for the Student Life-sponsored “Your Dash – What Are You Doing With It?” alcohol-awareness week event at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Hoover 105.

Those in attendance will receive gift certificates for a free meal at Wendy’s.

Health and Counseling Center offers flu shots Oct. 25, 31

All students, faculty and staff interested in getting a flu shot are welcome to schedule one through the university’s Health and Counseling Center. The center’s flu clinic will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The Health and Counseling Center is located in the Woodward House on campus. Call the center at ext. 2340 for more information or to make an appointment.

Good News! KFOX is back up and ready to go!

After the squirrel sabotaged campus on Saturday, KFOX became one of the casualties. The scheduled programming was unable to be aired. (Yes, we know you missed the Monday morning edition of the John and Jere Show.)

However, thanks to the efforts of Josh Nauman, Jared Ocker and Jim Fleming, KFOX is back on the air.

Monday’s shows should continue on schedule.

This weeks edition of the John and Jere Show will be aired on Tuesday morning at 8 am. It likely be rebroadcast later Tuesday night: 11 pm.
