George Fox will host Lewis & Clark College in the semifinal game of the Northwest Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Wheeler Sports Center/Miller Gym. The winner will advance to the title game at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash., on Friday, Feb. 29, also at 7 p.m.
Ticket prices for all tournament games, as established by the league office, are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and seniors 65 and older. Students from the participating schools will be admitted free with their student ID card. Northwest Conference passes are also valid for tournament games. Faculty and staff from the schools are required to have tickets.

The 2008-2009 Housing Selection Process will take place on Bruindata March 17-21.Â
All students will receive a housing code found on Bruindata. Students who want to live together will designate one person from their group to fill out a housing form on Bruindata by entering in everyone’s housing code. Your group will also rank all of the living areas that your group could possibly live in INCLUDING RESIDENCE HALLS. Â
Groups with the highester average number of credits will placed into housing first.
Please note that you must register for classes. Students who have not registered by Sunday, March 23 will contribute zero credits their group’s average.
Students who are eligible and plan to live off-campus will be able to select “Off-campus” on the their housing form.
All students planning to commute from their parent’s home for the 2008-2009 academic year must complete an Application to Commute from Parent’s home.  Even if you are currently a commuter, you must submit a new form for next year.

Please be aware that the maximum distance to commute from home is 60 miles.

Elements from each culture are incorporated into the life experience, but the sense of belonging is in relationship to others of similar experience.â€
Children are TCKs for many reasons. Some have parents with careers in international business, the diplomatic corps, the military or religious missions.

George Fox and Providence Newberg Medical Center will host a public health forum featuring Dr. David Barker – a physician and researcher who discovered the relationship between birth weight and the risk of coronary heart disease – from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in Wood-Mar Auditorium.
Barker, a physician and professor of clinical epidemiology at the University of Southampton in England and a professor in the Department of Medicine and the Heart Research Center at Oregon Health and Science University, will speak on “Halting the Epidemic of Diabetes and Heart Disease.â€
The forum is free and open to the public. In addition to seating in Wood-Mar Auditorium, a live feed of the presentation will be available in Hoover 105.
Barker, MD, PhD, is internationally renowned for what was named the “Barker Hypothesis†by the British Medical Journal in 1995. In 1989, with University of Southampton colleagues, he showed for the first time that people who had low birth weight are at greater risk of developing coronary heart disease. His theory is now widely accepted in the medical community.
ater studies he conducted showed that low birth weight also is associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes. In all, Barker has published more than 200 papers and written or edited five books about the developmental origins of chronic disease.
His Oregon connection began in 2003, when he joined the faculty at the Heart Research Center at OHSU to study how nutrition and growth before birth and during early childhood alter the development of the heart. He is a research partner with Dr. Kent Thornburg, a member of the George Fox Board of Trustees and a 1967 George Fox graduate. Thornburg helped arrange the forum.
