Parking tickets are coming

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Security has placed over 600 courtesy warning tickets on vehicles this week, so please register your vehicle on Bruindata if you have not done so.  Parking permits are sent to your campus mailbox as a package.  Visit Mail Services to sign for your permit.

Remember: The permit placement location has changed this year. The permit goes on the exterior rear window in the lower left-hand corner on the driver’s side. If you place your permit in the wrong location, and it can not be moved without ruining the permit, you will need to scrape it off, and bring the pieces to Security for a replacement permit. There will be a $5.00 fee for a new one.

Please call ext. 2090 if you have any questions.

Information commons is open in the MLRC

Friday, September 5th, 2008

You will notice some changes in the Murdock Learning Resource Center this year. More computers are available in the central area of the main floor, and more comfortable chairs will be arriving soon. A color printer also has been added, and a scanner will follow in the near future.

The additions are part of a plan to create an information commons in the MLRC. The commons represents a partnership between the library, the Academic Resource Center, and Institutional Technology. In addition to improved library space for computer users, the ARC will operate out of the Special Collections Room on the library’s second floor. IT will provide evening and weekend support from student workers in the library. As part of the plan, the Computer Assisted Instruction lab, previously housed in the Stevens Center, has been closed.

The commons is designed to provide a centralized location for many related or complimentary services you need to conduct and complete research projects. Consequently, you can access and use information resources in both print and digital formats, receive help and direction from a reference librarian in identifying, accessing and using these scholarly resources, receive writing services and academic coaching from the ARC, and receive related technology support through IT.

We hope that you use and enjoy the spaces at the library.
