University closes Dec. 23-25, Jan. 1 for holidays

The university will close Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 23-25, for the Christmas holiday. It will also be closed on Friday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. All offices, bookstores and libraries will be closed on those days.

Host families needed for two international students Jan. 5-10

International Student Services is looking for families who would be interested in hosting two international students Jan. 5-10. These students will be starting their first semester at George Fox this spring and will be attending orientation during this time. A stipend will be provided to help defray some of the costs.

Water will be shut off in Villa Academic Complex Dec. 21

Water will be shut off to the Villa Academic Complex starting Monday, Dec. 21, and will be off for the entire day. Please make sure to tell your departments so that they can plan accordingly, and use adjacent restroom facilities.

In order to replace a sewer line, water will be shut off between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, through Wednesday, Dec. 23, in the following buildings: MLRC, Minthorn and North Street Annex. Water will be off for approximately three days. Please use adjacent buildings for restrooms.

Planned power outage scheduled on section of campus Dec. 23

PGE is coordinating an electric service improvement, replacing decayed and damaged overhead conductors. In order to complete the project, electric service will be interrupted on Carlton Way and East Hancock Street east of River Street between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23. This service may disrupt traffic flow. PGE will provide flaggers during the work.

Music department selling poinsettias

Attention Student Employees

Don’t forget to turn in your December timesheets to your supervisor before you leave for winter break.  Be sure your name is typed or printed legibly at the top, it is complete and accurate, and you have signed it. If you will be working over the winter break, make sure you sign and turn in your timesheet when you are done working for the month. Payday is on Friday, January 15. Have a wonderful Christmas!

Meal Plan Selection for Spring 2010

Students eligible to change their meal plan for the Spring 2010 semester may now do so by logging into their MYGFU account.

Once you have logged onto your MYGFU account, find STUDENT RESOURCES.

Then find ENROLLMENT FORMS. You will be asked to LOG IN again.

There you will find your MEAL PLAN SELECTION FOR SPRING 2010.

The meal plans that you are eligible for, based on the number of credit hours you have attempted/completed, will be listed there.

All changes to meal plans in MYGFU MUST be made prior to Friday, January 22, 2010.

Reception for Stansells scheduled Monday in Stevens Center

Join the university in saying farewell to Ron and Carolyn Stansell at a retirement reception from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, in the Duke Atrium of the Stevens Center. Ron has served as professor of religion with a missions emphasis for the past 25 years. Carolyn worked in Student Financial Services for seven years and then, together with Ron, led students in our South American Studies Program for the past five years. They will retire this spring upon returning from Bolivia.

Celebrate with us their years of dedication and valuable contributions to George Fox.
