Sock drive for the homeless begins today

We are hosting a sock drive for the homeless. Donate your new or recently washed used socks in a blue trash bin in the Bruin Den between Nov. 12 and Dec. 3.

Consider donating a pair or two of your used or no-longer-in-style socks to those individuals who have fallen on hard times and find themselves homeless in this cold weather.

‘Light the Night’ holiday event canceled

Bon Appetit has had to cancel the “Light the Night” holiday event scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 11. We will get it planned and organized earlier next year so everyone can get it on their calendars before we all get too busy.

Interested in osteopathic medicine? Come to Nov. 29 presentation

Questions about osteopathic medicine? Luke Rauch (lrauch@western.edu), a representative of COMP-Northwest, will be on the Newberg campus Thursday, Nov. 29, to answer questions about medical school admissions, curriculum and more.

COMP-Northwest is an osteopathic medical school located in Lebanon, Ore., and is part of Western University of Health Sciences, located in California. Luke will hold a presentation at 2:45 p.m. in EHS 217 and will be available for drop-in at a table on the second floor of EHS between 12:30 p.m. and 2:20 p.m.

Fox Film Festival Logo Competition

Calling all students with knowledge in graphic design!

The CMCO department is holding its 15th annual Fox Film Festival this Spring. To celebrate, we are holding a contest for the festival logo to be specially redesigned for the occasion.

The contest will be open for submissions from Nov. 7-28, giving students three weeks to create something extraordinary.  After the submission period ends, each valid submission will be judged and the winner announced by the beginning of December. The prize: $50 and your logo featured this spring as the official Fox Film Festival logo!

Fall Exodus Fair 2012 is today

Fall seniors: Don’t forget today, Thursday, Nov. 8, is the FALL EXODUS FAIR from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All are invited to join Jeff VandenHoek, director of business relations in the George Fox School of Business, as he and others spotlight the School of Business’ current internship program successes and plans for the development of future internship opportunities.

Cultural Fair returns to Bruin Den on Nov. 13

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, between 4 and 6 p.m. in the Bruin Den, the university will host a Cultural Fair – and we’d love to have you join us. The Cultural Fair will feature students from Asia, Europe, Africa and other parts of America sharing something about their own culture.

You do not need to go to other countries or places to experience a different culture – just come to the Cultural Fair. You will have a chance to enjoy wonderful displays, learn something new, and of course experience delicious food from all over the world!

Recruiting reporters for newsletter
