This Thursday (Jan. 24), representatives from 21 different Christian camps from around the Pacific Northwest will be on the Newberg campus seeking George Fox students for positions in youth counseling, hosting, adventure camping, horse camping, challenge course facilitating, kitchen staff, lifeguarding, housekeeping and more.

The campus community is invited to an “Intellectual Feast” this afternoon (Tuesday) from 4 to 5 p.m. in Hoover 250. Paul Anderson (Religious Studies) will be presenting “A Bi-Optic Hypothesis.â€
Synopsis
For a century and a half, the leading gospel-composition theory among New Testament scholars (the Synoptic Hypothesis) has sought to explain possible relations between Matthew, Mark and Luke — leaving out the Gospel of John. In recent years, Anderson sought to advance a theory that explains the place of John among the gospels.
Seeing John and Mark as having two different perspectives from day one, Anderson’s “Bi-Optic Hypothesis†identifies particular relations between John and each of the other gospel traditions, leading to a new overall theory of gospel composition. Paul will outline this theory and its implications.

The university invites the campus community to “One Million Bones,” a large-scale national social arts project organized to raise awareness of genocides and mass atrocities going on in the world, this Thursday, Jan. 24, in the Ron Gregory (EHS) Atrium.
The event, scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m., calls for participants to create bones of clay that will be part of a collaborative installation of 1 million bones on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., June 8-10. The installation will serve as a symbol of solidarity with the millions of victims and survivors of ongoing conflict in places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Somalia – and as a visible petition to raise awareness of the issue and call upon the government to take much-needed and long overdue action.
For every bone created, the Bezos Family Foundation is donating $1, up to $500,000, to the humanitarian group CARE International for relief support and for rebuilding programs that benefit young people in hard-hit areas.
George Fox’s Center for Peace and Justice and art department are teaming up to host the event on campus. There is no charge to participate, and clay will be provided.
The national effort is being organized by Students Rebuild, an organization dedicated to mobilizing young people worldwide to connect, learn and take action on critical global issues. CARE International is a leading relief and development non-governmental organization fighting global poverty.

The 2012-13 SCORR team will be doing a fundraiser after MLK chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 23! We will wait outside as chapel is being released and take donations for our trip to the Student Congress of Racial Reconciliation Conference at Biola University in March.

In an effort to be more “green,†the custodial department has installed new roll towel dispensers in restrooms across campus in an effort to save money by reducing the amount of time spent restocking multi-fold towels (many dispensers will no longer have both types of towels).
This change eliminates the need to replace batteries yearly in the old units and allows for the purchase of a more natural brown towel that is made from 100 percent recycled material.
There are a couple things you need to keep in mind when using these new machines.

Save the date! The university’s third annual Dalton Lecture will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. Due to the popularity of this lecture series, the event is moving to Bauman Auditorium.
The lecture title is “The Big Bang, Stephen Hawking and God” and will be presented by Dr. Henry F. Schaefer III, the director of the Center for Computational Quantum Chemistry at University of Georgia, a world-renowned chemist, and a Christian. Chapel credit will be given.
Dr. Schaefer will provide a second lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in Hoover 105. This scientific, but lighthearted, lecture is entitled, “Third Age of Quantum Chemistry.”

Whether or not you have a vehicle, you MUST either register your vehicle, or indicate you do NOT have a vehicle on MyGFU before the Add/Drop date of Friday, Jan. 25, to avoid a $25 non-refundable fee for a parking permit.
Please log on to MyGFU and click on “Self Service.” Next click on “University Forms,” and the “Student Vehicle Registration” link will pop up in the middle of the page. Click on that and either input your vehicle information, or check the box “not bringing a vehicle to campus.”
If you registered a vehicle, a permit will be issued and sent to Mail Services where you will sign for it. If you do NOTHING, the fee will be assessed after the Add/Drop date. Parking permits are only $25 per semester, so please don’t delay in getting your vehicle registered!
