Gather for these Holy Week services

In remembrance of Holy Week, the Office for Spiritual Life will be offering the following worship gatherings. All are welcome!

Holy Week Chapel
Join us on Tuesday, April 16, from 10:50 to 11:40 a.m. as we remember the events from Palm Sunday to Good Friday. The university choir will be leading us in music worship. 

Shalom
Join us on Tuesday, April 16, at 9 p.m. in Canyon Commons as we discuss the events of Holy Week and their implications for discipleship, wholeness, and the spread of the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus.

Stations of the Cross
On Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium we offer an opportunity to experience student-created Stations of the Cross and participate in an extended time of worship through music led by our Vespers band.

Maundy Thursday
Join us for an informal celebration on Thursday, April 18, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. in the Bauman Green Room as we worship and take communion together. 

Good Friday and Easter Sunday
Join one of our wonderful area churches for worship and celebration. If you need help finding a place to go, glance at our list of area churches.

Come to presentation on the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities

See ‘The Amish Project’ performed this week

Come see George Fox theatre’s production of The Amish Project, showing in Wood-Mar Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 18 and 19!

The Amish Project is a fictional exploration of the Nickel Mines shooting of an Amish schoolhouse in 2006. Community members in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, share their stories and experiences as they struggle to find God in this story of real-life, radical forgiveness.

Tickets are sold at the door for a recommended donation of $7 or pay-what-you-will.

Graduates: Sign up to receive veteran honor cord

We would like to honor you for your service. If you are a veteran who will be graduating this spring or summer semester and you would like to wear a red, white and blue honor cord to signify your veteran status, then we ask that you sign into your George Fox email and complete the form at this link.

If you do not complete the form, a cord cannot be issued. You may submit your forms now through Friday, April 26.

Schedule physical activity counseling with PT students

Are you interested in increasing your physical activity but unsure of what to do? Schedule an appointment for health counseling with a licensed physical therapist and PT students.

These appointments are in the Roberts Center on Fridays for 30 minutes and include physical fitness testing, safe exercise counseling, and ideas to increase activity.

Gather for a jazz concert tonight

Tonight (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium, the university’s jazz ensemble will perform swingin’ big band works by jazz composer and trumpeter Thad Jones.

After a tenure with the Count Basie Band, Jones formed the Mel Lewis/Thad Jones Orchestra, which performed many of his compositions. This fun evening of music will feature many student soloists.

Gather for “turning of the page” event featuring the Saint John’s Bible

All are welcome to attend an interactive “turning of the page” event featuring, for the first time, six volumes of the Saint John’s Bible, Heritage Edition. The event will take place Tuesday, April 16, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Murdock Library Special Collections Room.

The event will include an introduction by Paul Anderson, followed by time to explore and view a turning of the page for each volume, focusing on the spiritual and artistic masterpieces within this historic integration of Christianity and culture. For more information, visit our website.

The Heritage Edition is a fine art edition of the original Saint John’s Bible, a modern hand-written and illuminated Bible. Created under the direction of Donald Jackson, these limited editions are being shared in communities around the world.

PT students offer free back and neck sessions on April 18

Donate blood to the Red Cross this Friday

George Fox’s School of Nursing and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive this Friday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Abby’s Legendary Pizza in Newberg. Donors will receive a $5 coupon for a giant pizza from Abby’s! Reserve your donation time at this link or by calling 800-733-2767.

Please join our lifesaving mission and schedule an appointment today. The need for blood is constant, and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds.
