Mail Services seeking sender of two mystery packages

Monday, August 13th, 2012

Someone dropped two flat rate priority envelopes into the U.S. Mail stream last week with a return address of George Fox University. The person printed the labels off – probably using Click N Ship – using the USPS Web site. However, the person did not pay for the postage online or any other way.

The two envelopes came back to the return address – George Fox University – wanting postage to be paid.

One envelope was addressed to Michael Glatfelter of San Diego, Calif., and the other envelope was addressed to Ron Reid of Seminole, Okla. Each envelope contains a check with a return address of International Myeloma Society out of Rochester, Minn.

These envelopes – including the checks – will not be mailed until the postage has been paid. If you recognize this information, please contact Mail Services at ext. 2555 or lsartwel@georgefox.edu.

Thanks!

Host families needed for international students Aug. 16-22

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

The university is expecting approximately 70 new international students this fall. They will be arriving on Aug. 15 to begin the international student orientation.

Rather than house these students in empty dorm rooms during orientation, we would like their first impressions to be with families who would be willing open their homes and show them the love of Christ. The home stays will be the nights of Aug. 16-22. Students will be in orientation during the days but would be free to be with the families the entire weekend of Aug. 18-19.

Families are asked to provide breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be provided on campus during orientation. We also ask families to provide transportation to George Fox between 8 and 8:30 a.m. and pick students up at approximately 5 p.m. Host families will receive a stipend to offset the costs of meals and transportation.

If you are interested in serving as a host family, please contact Alex Pia (apia@georgefox.edu). If you know of others who might be interested, please let us know so we may contact them.

Thank you for your willingness to consider this opportunity.
