Gather for May 3 baccalaureate service for our graduates

The university pastors warmly invite you to attend the undergraduate baccalaureate service on Friday, May 3, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium. Baccalaureate is a commissioning service for our graduating seniors and the opening event of the graduation festivities.

Join with us as we support, pray and commission our graduates into all that God has for them as they conclude their time here. Attire for the event is business casual.

Once the dust settles from the end of the semester, please email any vehicle changes to Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu or bring your DMV registration slip to the Campus Public Safety office to update your registration. If you have moved since you registered, we need to know that as well.

If you work at the Portland Center and come frequently to the Newberg campus, please go to MyGFU and register for a staff parking permit to avoid being ticketed for non-registration when you come to Newberg.

Claim lost items at Campus Public Safety office before end of the semester

If you have lost something, be sure to come to the Campus Public Safety office as soon as possible, because all remaining unclaimed items will be donated to Phase II at the end of the semester.

Anything found in the student residences when they are deep cleaned will be kept until Friday, May 31, before it is all donated to charitable causes, so be sure to double-check your residence before moving out!

If you work out in Wheeler, Duke or Hadlock, check for your lost items in those buildings before leaving school as well.

Sign up for physical activity counseling from PT students

President Baker reflects on the past and honors a longtime university leader

Recently, President Robin Baker traveled to the South to visit Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. During his stay, he had the opportunity to explore historic homes in the area, prompting him to reflect on the past and the importance of recognizing how history informs not only our past, but our future as well. Robin also took time to share his thoughts on longtime university supporter, leader and alumnus Roger Minthorne, who recently passed away after helping guide and shape his alma mater for nearly three-quarters of a century. You can read his thoughts on Roger on this blog post.

Gather for presentation by president of NWCCU tomorrow

Gather for a presentation by Sonny Ramaswamy, president of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, tomorrow (Thursday) from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Canyon Commons 101-103.

Portland Center students and employees can watch a live stream of the event in PDS 160 between 2:30 and 4 p.m.

As you may know, President Baker now serves the NWCCU as a commissioner. Our next full-scale accreditation visit will be spring 2021, and we will be working under a new set of standards. Sonny Ramaswamy’s presentation will likely address the standards and rule-making in Washington, D.C., that will impact our work.

Get your Fox Film Festival tickets today

Be sure to grab your tickets to the Fox Film Festival today (Wednesday)! We will be selling tickets outside the Bruin Den from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The tickets are for the Friday, April 26, screening at the Cameo Theater. The screening on Saturday, April 27, at Bauman Auditorium is free.

The prices are $6 for two tickets and $4 for one. This offer is only valid if you pre-purchase; otherwise it’s $4 at the door of the Cameo.
