PGE work will shut down power in some campus locations March 27

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Many of you may not know that the university’s main electrical service to the campus has failed twice within the last week. This Thursday, March 27, PGE will be replacing the failing buried electrical cable with a temporary aerial line. This should provide us stable power through the end of the school year. Heacock Commons, the University Store, the commons mail room, the Murdock Learning Resource Center, the Wheeler Sports Center, and Edwards Hall will be without power between 8 a.m. and noon.

Thank you for your patience.

Case of chickenpox discovered on campus

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Please be advised there has been a case of chickenpox on campus. Chickenpox is a contagious illness that is characterized initially by mild flu-like symptoms (low-grade fever, fatigue, headache, backache, and abdominal pain). This is followed by a rash with lesions that have clear fluid in their center and then scab over.

If you are pregnant and have not had chicken pox or if you are immunocompromised, it is important for you to speak to your doctor right away and let him or her know that you were potentially exposed to chickenpox. For more information on chickenpox, go to mayoclinic.com/health/chickenpox/DS00053. The incubation period is approximately 10-14 days after exposure, so symptoms will not develop immediately.

Please contact the Health Center at ext. 2340 with any concerns or questions.

Reminder No. 3: Changes in flex amounts will be reflected on your April check, not March.

Thanks for sending in your forms.
