Some needed maintenance will be done to the site calendar.georgefox.edu between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 4-5. The website will be unavailable during this maintenance window.
During the month of July, 20 new Ricoh copy machines have come to the Newberg and Portland campuses. They look and operate almost the same as the Canons they replaced. All Mac users that use a new Ricoh to print to will need to call IT to let them know who and where you are so that you can be properly attached to the copier.
Use of these machines is very much like the old ones, which will allow you to start using them. In-depth training for scanning, faxing, printing and copying will be taking place over the next few weeks. Please check with the office personnel in your area to find your date and time.
The university will host a retirement celebration for Jack Harris (Plant Services) from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in Klages Dining Hall. Come say farewell to Jack, whose future plans include taking a trip to Israel with his wife.
Just a reminder that the Bruin Den will be closed starting Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 14. During this time, Plant Services will be replacing the carpet in the Bruin Den area and making many much-needed repairs throughout the area.

The Center for Teaching and Learning is sponsoring FoxTALE and Google Docs open lab time for faculty from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, in Hoover 211. Faculty can come for individual help with FoxTALE or Google Docs. IT reps will be on hand to answer questions.
The Center for Teaching and Learning is offering a FoxTALE introduction seminar from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 18, in Hoover 211. (New regular faculty participating in New Faculty Orientation Aug 18-20 will have a separate seminar as part of NFO.) Please R.S.V.P. to Sheila Abercrombie (IT) if you plan to attend.
Employees are invited to attend an all-employee meeting from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, in Wood-Mar Auditorium (please note location change). The meeting will provide employees an opportunity to receive campus updates. Your participation is strongly encouraged.

IT will be installing an update for FoxTALE from 6 to 7 a.m. (PST) on Monday, Aug. 3. FoxTALE will be unavailable during this time. The update includes a few new gradebook features, with details forthcoming. Faculty are encouraged to export grades to a spreadsheet for archiving prior to the update.
Register now for Selah 2009! The conference theme is “Reimagine — Embracing change, trusting God and moving forward” and features speakers Sarah Thomas Baldwin (Spiritual Life), Linda Lucas and Bo Stern. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Bauman Auditorium.

The Office of Marketing Communications is now collecting orders for business cards. Orders are due Wednesday, July 29. Please place your orders through your department’s administrative assistant. Expect delivery in mid-August.

If you supervise student employees, please review the updated procedures for 2009-10 posted on the supervisor web page. The procedures document and the new offer letter for 2009-10 also will be sent directly to supervisors by e-mail.

The mail courier to Salem will be going on Thursdays only for the next four weeks. Normal two-times-a-week service will resume on Monday, Aug 17. The Portland courier will still be operating five days, Monday through Friday. Questions? Call Sherrie Frost (Mail Services) at ext. 2556.
Avoid the August rush. Now is a great time to request new fall course sites, archive and reset courses, and export grades for safekeeping. For new course sites, contact the IT Service Desk and include the course number and name.

The Marketing Communications office is collecting orders for name tags. For those who have regular face-to-face contact with the public and need to order a name tag, you may now submit and view your name tag requests online. Provide the name of the person for whom the name tag is needed, title or department, and the budget to be charged. Examples of title or department include: Dean of Students/Student Life and Admissions Counselor/Admissions.
The next order will be placed Tuesday, August 4.
Join Bon Appetit Thursday, July 9, for fresh Oregon berry shortcake in the Bruin Den. The treat features a medley of freshly picked local blueberries, raspberries and strawberries with homemade hazelnut shortcake and costs only $2.75 each.
Bon Appetit is happy to announce that effective July 6 the Bruin Den and Villa Cafe (when it reopens in the fall) will be accepting credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. We also will be accepting VISA debit cards. All purchases under $25 will not require a signature.
In addition, for those staff/faculty/students who wish to add Bruin Bucks to their university ID cards, you can now purchase them with your credit card by coming to the Bon Appetit office behind the kitchen.

Since Sandie Tuck has decided to stay home and be a full-time mom following the birth of her son this spring, there is an opening for a full-time enrollment specialist II (Pay Range 5) in the registrar’s office.
This position is currently open only to internal applicants (employees). Please e-mail hr@georgefox.edu to obtain a copy of the job description and transfer request if you are interested in applying. A completed transfer request, cover letter and resume must be submitted to HR no later than Friday, July 10, at 5 p.m.
If you have not already done so, please submit your June time sheet (support staff) or time-off report (administrators) this week. Please be sure it is complete, accurate and signed by both you and your supervisor before sending it to HR at Box 6108 — including your cost center and ID number. You can find your Cost Center Employee ID number on on your pay statement.
If your supervisor is not available to sign your time sheet by Tuesday, July 6, please send a copy to HR and keep the original until it has been signed.

June student time sheets must be in HR no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2, so please have them hand-delivered to HR as soon as you have processed them. If you are not on the Newberg campus, please fax your student time sheets to 503-554-2186 and then send the originals to HR in campus mail. Also, please check to be sure all of your students have submitted their time sheets to you and follow up with any that have not.
