An article co-written by Deb Drecnik Worden (Management) was referenced in a Sept. 8 TwinCities.com story about Ameriprise Financial’s efforts to target Gen X investors. TwinCities.com is the online version of the Pioneer Press, a daily newspaper in St. Paul, Minn. The article stated: “Gen Xers have been largely ignored by financial services companies because of their lower income and limited assets, according to a 2003 article in the Journal of Financial Planning by Diane Schooley of Boise State University and Debra Drecnik Worden of George Fox University. Their article, based on the 1998 Survey of Consumer Finances sponsored by the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, also found that while Gen Xers want to be informed, they have a low level of trust and a great deal of skepticism.”
