Visiting pianists perform in Bauman Auditorium tomorrow night

An internationally acclaimed pianist and current professor, Ilonka Rus-Edery, will join with two of her distinguished students from Sam Houston State University to perform a free concert on the university’s Bauman Auditorium stage at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 22. There is no charge to attend.

The Romanian-born Rus-Eldery, an associate professor of piano and director of keyboard studies at Sam Houston State University, has appeared as a recitalist and concert artist with numerous orchestras and chamber music ensembles throughout Romania, Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland, Mexico, Colombia and the United States.

Both of the students joining her on stage, Eduard Alexandru Gavril and Sorin Frisan, are natives of Romania who have extensive performance experience. Together, the guests will perform pieces by Schubert (Fantasy in F minor), Saint Saens (Danse Macabre: remix), Khachaturian (Sabre Dance), Rosenblatt (Carmen Fantasy), Rachmaninoff (Vocalise, Op. 34, No. 14) and Mozart (Ragtime alla turca).

The concert is a piano exchange concert, as George Fox’s Kenn Willson, coordinator of keyboard studies, will be performing his “Encounters with Beethoven” concert at Sam Houston State University at a future date.
