Information on music opportunities on campus

Following is information on music opportunities available on campus.

Band
Symphonic Band: Contact Pat Vandehey if you have any questions. All students interested in band should attend rehearsals during the first week of classes (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 4:40-6 p.m.) to give them a sense of the music we will be playing. Auditions for chair placement will be held on Monday, Sept. 7, during normal rehearsal time. Audition material is posted outside of the band room door, Ross 210, and you will be able to sign up for a time slot during the first week of classes.

Jazz Band: Information about Jazz Band auditions will be released at a later time.

Choir
Women’s Chorale (Monday/Wednesday, 2:40-3:30 p.m.) and Men’s Chorale (Tuesday/Thursday, 2:40-3:30 p.m.) are non-auditioned groups of female and male singers of varying ability. Please show up to the first rehearsal to get permission to enroll in the class. Contact Gary Frame for more information.

Concert Choir (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 3:40-4:50 p.m.) is an auditioned group consisting of both male and female singers. All students (including students who are auditioning) should attend the following rehearsals during the first week of classes:
Men – Monday and Wednesday
Women – Tuesday and Wednesday
Auditions for Concert Choir will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., and Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. If you are interested in auditioning, pick up an information/audition packet and sign up for a time slot outside of the Performing Arts office on the second floor of the Ross Center.

Jazz Choir and Chamber Singers auditions will be held during the first and/or second week of classes, time TBD.

Other Vocal Opportunities: Private applied voice lessons with one of three instructors and voice class (group lesson), of which there are three sections, are available: Monday/Friday, 11:40 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; Monday/Wednesday, 1:40-2:30 p.m.; Monday/Friday, 9:40-10:30 a.m. Sign up through MyGFU if you are interested in either of these opportunities.
