Safety tips from Security Services
Security has received a report of thefts happening in residence halls and public locations. We’d would like to remind everybody to take precautions to always lock your dorm rooms and cars and to carry your keys with you. Do not leave items of value in your cars, and keep your bikes locked as well. If you are not taking your bike home at spring break, please leave it in your residence to avoid tempting a potential thief.
Lastly, never let people you don’t know into your residence! If they state they are there to visit somebody in your residence hall or apartment complex, go and get that person and have them vouch for the stranger, but do not let them into your residence without knowing them!
If you see somebody or something that just doesn’t “seem right,” please call security at 503-554-2090 as soon as it happens so that we can go and investigate. We’d much rather investigate and find out it was nothing rather than have everybody notice a stranger and nobody called. Please help us to keep you and your belongings safe!
