Events scheduled to commemorate Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month, a time to remember the obstacles women have overcome and to confront the barriers women still face. The Office of Inclusion and Student Leadership Programs welcome men and women to come engage in events during this month so that, together, we can move toward gender equality and justice.
Thursday, March 7 – Women’s Month Table Talk, Bruin Grounds, noon. All are welcome to discuss the prevalence of sexism today.
Friday, March 8 – Women’s International Day. On this day in Eastern Europe, men hand out chocolates to women and give kind words. Come by the Bruin Den to write cards and give chocolate to women you appreciate.
Friday, March 19 – Women, Religion, and Work Panel, Lemmons 8, 7 p.m. Did God “design†a certain role for women, or is it arbitrary? How do women experience sexism and discrimination? Are religion and feminism compatible? All are invited to come hear from Melanie Mock, Shelley Yonemura, DeLisa Thomas and Suhila Jefery.
