Symphonic, Jazz bands perform Feb. 14 in Bauman Auditorium

The university’s Symphonic and Jazz bands will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Bauman Auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. and there is no admission charge.

The Symphonic Band will perform “Klezmer Classic’s” by Johan DeMeij. The group also will perform “Symphonic Prelude” by Mark Camphouse, a piece composed in honor of the fallen soldiers buried at Colleville-Sur-Mer, a cemetery above Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Other pieces will be “High School Cadets” by John Philip Sousa and “Suite Francaise” by Darius Milhaud.

The Jazz Band will perform “Tribute to the Duke” and “Tall Cotton” by Sammy Nestico, and “Jackson County Jubilee” by Benny Carter.

The Symphonic Band is directed by Pat Vandehey and the Jazz Band is directed by Joel Tanner.
